Yes that sub hits amazingly! but it's VERY important that you have the right amp to match it with. But if your just wondering about how badass the subs are, then no worries, cuase those are a really good choice. (other than the price )

Are you looking to get a better sounding sub, or just more thump in your system?

Well, since it looks like you have a decent budget, what I would recommend is a Stereo Integrity 12" BM. They're made to pound hard with less power. And if you want tons of thump, put them in a 4 ft^3 box tuned to 34Hz.

hmm Sony amps usually don't put out as much as they say they do. I had the Sony xm-2165GTX in my car, and it says 1000watts, but really it only put out 165watts RMS x 2, and 330watts MAX x 2.

that stero integrity dosent seem as thou it would be to powerfull......tis only putting out 600 watts max power....no i dont know a whole lot aobut woofers...but it seems to me that eh alpine type x would be a better bang for the buck.....im not syaing they are stupid....its jsut ot me it seems that the X is better.
has anyone used the stero integrity's before/? -------------------- KB |

The Type X's are recommended for only 500W RMS. Trust me, stereo integrity makes some of the best sub woofers on the market. The BM's big brother, the Magnum D2, is probably the best sounding subwoofer out right now. The BM is geared more towards SPL, but still has quality sound. What I would recommend is getting an Elemental Design NiNe.1, it's pretty much a perfect match since it gives out 1200W RMS. If the price is too steep, just find an amp that will put out AT LEAST 1200W RMS, not peak.
Oh, and if you want maximum thump, build a ported box that is 4 ft^3 and tuned to 34Hz. If you need help with a box design, just ask. This post has been edited by Mystify.: Oct 16, 2006 - 11:02 PM |

build the box out of 18mm mdf or get a cabinet maker to do it.

im a big advocate of 10s. I work at best buy, and i can basically buy anything there for like half off. (I get wholesale prices + 5% for shipping) So I had my pick of any subs I still went with 10s. I just like the response over 12s.
