If you have rust then yes you need to do something about it or it will spread, I am not aware of rust problems on the 6g in the UK and our weather/roads are crap. It might point to a bad repair/spray job at some point. You need to stop it before it gets any worse.

I don't that rust in that area is a problem, it is definately on most cars. If you wanted to though, you could take a rag and some solvent to take off the rust... but thats just my .02

Sorry,

I thought you mean that you had some rust on the body, as others have said, don't worry about rust on your discs, it's purely cosmetic and not gonna do any harm if you use the car, only if it is sitting for years would that be a problem.

Hi Mate, I'm from Berkshire too.

Have you or anyone got any hints on how to stop rust in these areas:
1. The wiper arms by the rivert area
2. Screw areas under the arches and sills where the skirts were removed by the previous owner
3. Rust blisters bubbling under panel near the indicators on front wheel arches
4. The brakes - i'll Hammerite it i think.

Do you reckon it's a good idea to get a large car cover (like tent material) to protect from snow in winter?

Normally, you would just have to paint over those.
