^that's what i figured. but if it has the tranny with it, it can be used and i'm guessing all i would really need would be the mounts, rewired harness, shifter cables(if not included) right? /noob question

Anyone who's thinking of buying this, make sure that the MAF is included, I didn't see it in the pics, and you WILL NEED IT.
Also for you ST guys, this is actually quite a bit simper than a 3SGTE, reason I say that is it already COMES WITH an S54 tranny, so you don't need that. The clutch is a normal 5SFE part, so you don't have to worry about that. The axle carrier is on the engine, so you don't need to find that. You're still going to need to locate the mounts and axles. Also, the wiring is easier into the 6th gen, I would probably be able to do it for you for like $200, verses the $350 for a 2nd gen 3SGTE swap. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

I have a 5sfe and live 10 mins away from that place (JdmRacingMotors.com) and 2.5k$ sitting in my bank account.... how much more money would be needed to swap this (if MAF is included)? Is the swap pretty straightforward?
How about replacement parts (ie: gaskets and usual stuff) - is it hard to find or it share common parts with the 5sfe? Thx |

Thx 3SGE and 5SFE are totaly different Engines - so this means none of the parts what you asked will fit - and not to mention 3SGE Beams - and normal 3SGE head differences. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Is the swap pretty straightforward? How about replacement parts (ie: gaskets and usual stuff) - is it hard to find or it share common parts with the 5sfe? Thx Since you have a GT, assuming it's a manual, the swap will be quite easy. I can't think of anything else you're going to need. The GT axles work, and you can swap over your current a/c compressor to keep your lines. I'd count on spending another $700, $200 for the harness and $500 for the odds and ends. For replacement parts, you'll be able to use a few things from the 5SFE (not much), ignition parts from the newer Toyota engines, and some parts from the 1st gen 3SGE here in North America. Other than that, you can order what specific parts you need from Japan. The nice thing about the BEAMS is that it is very reliable and will likely run for many years without ever giving you a problem. Be careful about saying that, I have yet to see a BEAMS redtop come with LSD. That one appears to come from the SSIII which did not always come with it. -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

I stand corrected.
I was under the impression that if you had a BEAMS then the tranny was LSD. This post has been edited by Outsider: Nov 18, 2006 - 11:40 PM -------------------- 1994 GT-S (BEAMS) swap complete |

I wish that were the case That engine is definetely not from an MR2, it's from a Celica. The shifter cables are on the backside of the engine, if it was from an MR2 they would be on the frontside. -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Nov 19, 2006 - 12:25 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

Was toyota that stupid to let the 200hp FWD car out from the factory without LSD? My SSIII Does has ot for sure. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...
