It's about 98% done I'd say... The list of things to finish
Intercooler mounting brackets Washer resevior mounting Put hood/bumper on Exhaust system (3" straight back under axle with Flowmaster 40series 3" in w/ 2 2 1/2" outlets) Anyway it's been a long long road.. mainly because of problems that popped up during the build and after... List of mods/work (I'll start at bottom of motor and work up) Completely rebuilt 3SGTE - All engine seals Main bearings Rod Bearings ARP Rod bolts ARP Head studs Cometic Metal HG New valve stem seals Head cleaned and valve shims adjusted New piston rings New water pump and pulleys & tbelt tensioner Transmission - 99 Camry V6 5spd trans w/ 40K 95 JDM MR2 LSD Stage 3 clutch w/ 11lb Chromoly Fly Exhaust - Custom 3" downpipe (Made for CT26, customized to fit the GT28) S/S tubular header w/ custom adapter plate to go from CT26 flange to GT28 GT28R Turbo 38mm external gate 3" Straight back pipe w/ Flowmaster 40 muffler (no cats/res) Intake - Completely cleaned and sandblasted Manifold, throttle body Intercooler (3 3/4" thick by 20" across and 13" bottom to top .. thereabouts) 2 1/2" aluminum IC pipe Forge Motorsport Diverter valve (recirc. valve) Bored Fuel Rail (Like ATS.. except I did it) Custom throttle body inlet adapter (like the one ATS Makes.. except I made it..) Electronics - Apexi AVC-R Boost controller AEM Wideband O2 gauge GlowShift (eBay...) Tint gauges .. black faces when power is off.. they look nice .. see how well they work. I think that's about it... I made a LOT of custom things for this engine either by myself or with the help of some friends.. So I'm pretty damn happy with it all. I did the wiring myself and yes.. everything worked the first time around. The last 2 wiring harness jobs I did were more difficult than this one. I hope everyone likes the pics and what you see.. I can't wait to take it on the road. I'm hoping to do so tomorrow but we shall see. I'm not in the mood to rush anything at this point since it is so close to being done. I want to make sure it's 100% before I let my hard work tear up the asphalt. http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94sideview.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94sideview2.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94sideview3.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior2.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior3.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior4.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior5.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior6.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior7.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94interior8.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94front.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94front2.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/boostcontroller.JPG http://tekphobia.com/Alltrac/94turbo.JPG This post has been edited by Punisher: Oct 21, 2006 - 11:21 PM -------------------- 87 4runner DLX 22re, 5spd, 4.30gr, 4" lift, 30" tires, HID w/ Projectors, 6spkr + sub, custom exhaust, 94 celica leather seats, SR5 gauge cluster and clinometer. Damn, its looking really good. That is a huge intercooler. And A+ on going with the heat wrapping right away. Also, what brand clutch did you go with for the stage 3? GT28R ftw!

Itchy, I see what you mean... Nothing will go boom though.. the valve will still open.. I'll see what the possible side affects are though and if need be I'll switch it around.. I can't believe I didn't notice that

Update..
I've been driving her around for the past couple of days and I LOVE IT.. the thing is insanely fast.. and I've only been pushing around 4-6PSI tops and barely running the gears.. and it just out right hauls ass... The E153 is amazing.. I was doing 80mph down the highway in 5th at 3K rpm... all the gears are super long.. The turbo will spool up anywhere between 2-3K RPM depending on the gear and load on the engine.. if I am going up hill and my RPMs are low.. like 2-2500... Give it some gas and the turbo is happily boosting instantly.. I have the TVIS actuactor hooked up to the intake manifold so once i come out of vacuum the plates open.. that is workin out fantasticly. When I start to get up to 4-5PSI the wideband reads rich off the gauge.. so less than 12:1 I believe that is.. either 12:1 or 11:1... so my fuel is perfect.. I should be able to push 15-16PSI safely fuel wise... I don't even think I want to feel that thing at 15-16PSI.. I'll probably lose a lung. I think my boost stuttering issues are due to a misadjusted TPS.. so tomorrow I will look it up in the BGB and adjust it properly and see if that fixes it.. I tried to roll the ign. timing back and that didn't change anything.. I need to make those knock sensor LEDs up to be on the safe side as well. Anyway guys.. I'm very very happy with my swap and the turbo I went with along with everything else... It was definitly worth the time and effort 100%. -------------------- 87 4runner DLX 22re, 5spd, 4.30gr, 4" lift, 30" tires, HID w/ Projectors, 6spkr + sub, custom exhaust, 94 celica leather seats, SR5 gauge cluster and clinometer. Paid 400 total shipped from japan... it's from a 95 MR2.
The LSD is TOTALLY worth it man.. I get no torque steer.. and the other day the roads were wet and I came into boost and started to spin the tires.. I can't imagine how bad it would be with out the LSD.. spin tire... go into torque steer.. crash and die. I don't feel like fighting torque steer on a car that will be putting down serious HP numbers.. plus it's going to be a daily driver.. When I'm out in the snow and slush that LSD will be a bloody life saver. -------------------- 87 4runner DLX 22re, 5spd, 4.30gr, 4" lift, 30" tires, HID w/ Projectors, 6spkr + sub, custom exhaust, 94 celica leather seats, SR5 gauge cluster and clinometer. No, that was just his LSD that he got for 400 dollars, he used a 99 Camry E153 transmission then installed an LSD into that trans.
I worked with Steve on this project and so I have a little insight into what he did and its pretty friggin cool. Very clean rebuild, this whole motor is totally spotless, its not just a pretty valve cover. I should find a picture of the motor on the engine stand... -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
