well Im not sure if youve heard the news but heres some info

NASCAR and Toyota Motorsports announced today that Toyota would expand their NASCAR program in 2007 to include the NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series. This announcement is bound to stir up strong feelings as some of the NASCAR faithful don't believe that "foreign" manufacturers should be allowed in NASCAR. Here are the facts behind the announcement and the potential impact for NASCAR fans.

This is such crazy old news...

Toyota is already in the Truck Series, and has been for a couple of years now. Michael Waltrip will be racing in the Toyota, as Darrell Waltrip(his older brother) owns a few. I'm all for it personally, being both a Toyota and NASCAR fan.

I have a pic of a Nascar Camry on my toolbox at work. I have always liked
Nascar but I will be following much closer next year. I'm sure they will dominate
as they have in the truck series. smile.gif

Agreed!

Who is peoples favorite drivers?

I gotta stick with Jr. and yeah hes not doing so well right now but thats cuz hes got a crappy car and his stupid step mom is keeping money from him to build better ones.

As long as Gordon doesnt win a race im always a happy camper with Nascar :-)

It sucked for them because they wanted to come in during the transition to "Car of Tomorrow".

I liked what they did with the Tundra. They won 15 of 30 races last season against the Fords/Chevy/Dodge... that's good news!

I'd like to know what makes F1 so much more exciting than Nascar. The concepts the same.

IMO, NASCAR road courses are boring, ovals are where all the fun is. Bristal is the funnest track to watch.

Guys let's keep it clean without bashing.

If you have never been to an F1 race, then it isn't worth puting input in on the comment "the concepts are the same." PLEASE, please do not take this post as rude or bashing, but take the time to look up and study a Formula 1 car. The only concept that F1 shares with Nascar is the fact that they use rubber wheels.

I didnt mean they are the same i was just saying I like Nascar better than F1

F1 is not interesting because the races are almost like pre-determined before they are ran cuz theres 2 to 4 really good cars and there going to win and the others are just filling out the field. With Nascar you got about 20 cars who are capable of winning and 20 others filling out the field. So it makes for a more interesting race

I was going to stay away from this but I can't resist. most people either really like NASCAR or really hate it, sorry to those of you who like it but I'm one of the people who really hate it. IMO rally is the best kind of auto racing.

and I'd like to know from those who like NASCAR, do you guys actually watch all 100+ laps or whatever it is or do you just follow the stats?

what does NASCAR stand for? tongue.gif

Tell you the truth. Back then when Dale Earnhardt was there stomping through the field, I reserved my every Sunday and watched the whole 3-4 hours of race.

Now, I don't watch more than 10 minutes of it... I just lost interest.

I guess for me, I need a favorite (and my favorite has to be one of those top guys) in order to watch a sport. Kinda like when I lost interest in NBA after Jordan retired. :\

NASCAR stands for National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing.
