damnit I just lost the paragraph I just typed..I<ll make it short. I need help fast!!!!

Car stalled with no warning. Engine turns over with no sign of life(just fuel smell).

Its NOT fuel related, pump is working. There is NO SPARK, its an ignition problem.

Car will still not start hours later, no hesitation at all, just turning in the butter!

Map sensor, coolant temp sensors are ok.

We tried a working ignitor, not better.

New spark plugs, cap and rotor.

All fuses are ok, as well as obvious systems likes EFI, relay is clicking, etc..

At this point we're thinking its either the coil or crank angle sensor. I'm trying to gather as much info as my car is stranded on Prince Edward Island and its fraking 40$ of bridge toll to get there (I live in NB), so my friend and I want to go there with a bunch of spare parts and hopefully start the ''beast'' again. I'm pretty sure a new distributor assembly will take care of it..but I need to think of everything that can possible stop sparks from happening!

Thanks for all your help and experience!

hmm CAS would also disable fuel. get the manual from celicatech and check out the wires going to the distributor for the correct power levels. is your check engine light on when the car is Key On Engine Off? if its not then your PCM has a problem, if its on then thats probably ok. check for any codes tho, there could be somehthing there that could point you in the right direction.

engine light is on when key is in "ignition"
all relays are working

Rayme tried pulling a spark plug and grounding it on the block, no spark

Upon further research, I found anothing this that might be bad. The pick up coil inside the distributor. .. But we'll knew Wednesday eh Nick? lol

I just hope its nothing like a freak accident (like broken wire inside a loom).

actually to be honest, the igniter, i know on my 3sfe and 3sge engines, are grounded (through their bodies) to the frame, by being bolted to them...i had removed my ignitor from the frame, and couldnt get my car to start......so i ran a ground from my igniter to the frame, and voila, instant start....dosent sound like your case though....

This happened to me and it was the coil. Replaced with $45 MSD coil and no problems. You will need to mess with the coil wire by adding the oldsckool style male spark connection that you should get with the coil to your coil wire. Was pretty easy though. Just made another one the other day when I got my NGK Ultimate Race wires.

How could I use an aftermarket coil (I'd like too! cheaper!) when the stock one is inside?? The "coil wire" is just a brass lead inside the cap..I can't picture it!

i thought about it but if the timing belt snaped, wouldn't it be heard flopping around when cranking?

The rotor shaft was still turning remember? laugh.gif

Anyway we got hold of a whole distributor (including a working coil, pickup coil and crank angle sensor)..So I can at least bring my car home, and diagnostic what's wrong!
