ok. so i've installed my jdm mirrors. i've already figured out which wires do what (ie retracting and adjusting). i got the mirror control relay with mine also
everything seemed pretty straight forward after all the testing.. the vertical and horizontal wires match up with the stock ones.. i'm trying to get my mirrors to work with the relay.. based on the pic above.. the wires on the mirror control relay matched up with the retracting wires for both mirrors. that just leaves me with three wires left: 1. Pink Wire (99% sure it's the switch wire which connects with the pink wire from the control switch) 2. White wire with Black Strip (i'm almost sure it's the Ground/Chassis wire??) 3. Blue wire with Yellow Strip (i'm guessing this is the Positive Battery wire??) everything is wired up, but still won't retract.. need help This post has been edited by azian_advanced: Jul 31, 2006 - 8:55 AM -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

You are correct about the pink wire. It recieves a +12 signal from the control switch which activates the relay. You may have the +ve and -ve reversed though. I can't remember from the last time I did it... Open the relay box up, inside there is a circuit board and the fuction of each wire is printed on it.

thank you... will do. thanks.
offtopic, also just want to add, because they are RHD mirrors, for LHD the angles of the mirrors are not the same. they can only move so far.. both mirrors are adjusted all the way to it's maximum though the pass-side can't be adjusted to its ideal angle while the driverside is good but is adjusted all the way to it's max. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

okay... i need help again.. so everything is wired according to the second pic above (the correct diagram btw), but there's one problem.
when the relay's attached and press the retract button, the mirrors fold forward (toward the front) instead of the other way (towards the rear). it seems the polarity (- & +) were reversed by the relay. and if i reverse the wires, i end up blowing a fuse. sorry but i'm no electrician but i know some of the basic fundamentals in wiring. anyway, can anyone explain what is wrong with my setup??? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

not sure if this will be any help, but I found this earlier today when searching google for celi pics
http://www.yellowsun.plus.com/how2/retractmirror.html UK has heated mirrors! this write-up combines the heated mirrors with retractable mirrors! |

thanks but i already looked through that... it seem the guy has the later spec control switch with the relay built in to it already.. all that needed wiring were the retractor wires from the mirror to the control switch directly.
anyway, i still need help on this. anyone? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

not to jack the thread but a wireing diagram without using the control unit would be nice as its imposible to get a hold of that unit.

Which wire's are you switching that cause's the fuse to blow? Or has the problem been resolved? If so please post an update.

ok... i figured out a few things since then.. fuse no longer blows, that was just me testing a few things to figure out how things worked.
anyway, the main problem is my mirror relay.. the wires are wired up as in the 2nd diagram above.. i took apart the relay box and pulled out the circuit board.. there are four relays on the board.. -driver-side open -driver-side close -pass-side open -pass-side close i tested the soldered parts connecting those relays on the board. 3 of them were switching but one was locked for some reason and wouldn't switch.. apparently, this is the root of my problem. i got another toyota mirror relay but instead has different wiring than the original one. this leaves me to either: 1. get another identical relay (with the exact part number) 2. figure out another way to open and close without the control switch.. though that would totally suck. i'm leaning towards #1. i want to use the control switch and i want to wire them up with my alarm module. it seems the ST185s use the same relay box as the pre96 ones afaik.. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
