"A DMV insider has disclosed to me that the DMV has made a formal request to a federal agency to rule if my Beetle constitutes a threat to national security based on what could happen if it got into the wrong hands. This raises three questions in my mind: #1 Does this mean I’m the right hands? #2 If someone with the name "b_laden13" is the highest eBay bidder for my Beetle can I refuse his offer even if he has the prestigious eBay Red Shooting Star feedback rating (the highest)? #3 Would this affect my eBay rating?"

laugh.gif haha... thats the only part I read but it was damn funny

i hate to sound like a jerk but that has to be the dumbest jet engine set up ever

the intake is right behind the driver, i mean, he could have at least fabricated something so the jew draws air from outside the vehicle..

such a stupid idea to mount the engine that way in my opinion

edit: nice find though, don't mean to come off like a jerk or anything

All and all, he mounted the engine in there perfectly and defiantly took all the cautions he needed to except for one BIG one. Even thought there is shut-off valve this and that, those shut-off valves arn't going to be able to stop one quick explosion or internal fireball. He absolutly, ABSOLUTLY should have a firewall between him and that engine. Then, use his engenearing skills and turn the back seat windows into mechanical windows to open up by switch. He said that all he does to get air to the engine is open the side windows and moon-roof. "it gets kinda windy in there" hahahhahahahaha

my .02

OMGZ!!! HE SHOULD HAVE PUT IT IN A 6TH GEN CELICA!

^what everyone is thinking.

The reason it's street legal, is because it's no different than hauling around something in the trunk that sticks out. When driving on the street, He has the normal beetle engine the front. If you read, you'd know that.

i think people are asking if it's street legal for the same reason they would ask if a tank were street legal. from some points of view, every car is a 4000-lb weapon. how dangerous can a car legally be? if this guy completely lost if one day, there would be very little to prevent him from torching other motorists, pedestrians, buildings, etc. i don't think it's legal to mount a paintball marker on your bumper, and you couldn't do half the damage a freakin' jet engine would do.

if YOU had read anything, you'd know that the powers that be have insinuated that it's a potential threat to national security, or something else equally humorous, yet undeniably credible.

he's not just driving around with cargo. he's got a bonafide turboshaft JET ENGINE with JET FUEL and everything needed to start, run, and *sort of* control it back there. i'm actually disappointed that it's not the sole mode of propulsion for the vehicle, as obnoxious as it is.

I think its cool, he took his knowledge and made something interesting, hes not flaunting it, hes not bragging, he built it and it became internet knowledge (months ago). I dont see a reason to get all uppty, If your discussing danger in a vehicle, never mod your car ever. Danger is in everything and im sure he doesnt daily drive it, it was a mechanical challange. I think he got some coverage with your little rant about it as well.
