Honestly? Just take about 3 meters of normal 8mm wire that you use to run the power for your audio system - take good gold plated end links for the wire - make a good earth point in your engine bay - and run all your wires from there to the earth points on your engine - it will be 10x cheaper - and it will perform the same. Ofcorse it wount be HKS...

It give the same grounding effect - what ever you do - it MIGHT be better if they there made from Silver wires or somthing But really - putting this Grounding kit - you wount feel much of the differnece. But if you check the stock Groundd wires in your Engine bay - you will see that they are really tiny ones, and time has took his effect on them already and Cooper is already started rusting inside. Get some cheapo kit from Ebay and try it out. But as i suggested - instead of this - get some good battery clamps, one for ground and one for Power (Ussualy i used these then i was installing Car audio, so check car audio shops) these clamps have place for the 5 wires to go in them, put one on the battery ground terminal, run the 1 wire from it to the good ground on chasis, and then run all the other wires to the ground points - if you do all this clean and profesionally - it will look good, and will perform the same way as the other High brand stuff... -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Copper is copper. Much cheaper to buy your own wire.
Grounding kit should help with the car's electrics since our factory ones are pathetic. Doubt you will notice a big difference though unless you are running an audio setup and the factory one isn't sufficient, causing dimming lights etc. |

So does a ground kit help with audio (dimming lights)? I noticed mine is still dimming the lights on a few songs even with my cap... so wanted to see if I can use some wires i have already to ground everything better..

Just remember one thing when you upgrade ground wires. Electrical currents dont care about brand names. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

Best grounding points are any part of the car chassis. Make sure to sand off the paint and after bolting the lug down, spray some paint over it or use nail polish etc in order to stop it from rusting. What I will upgrade first is the battery ground in the engine bay. The factory one is pathetic. Use 8gauge at least. I used 0gauge for mine.4 gauge would be reasonable and would not cost much. Should solve the headlight dimming issue.
Next I would do is make sure the amps are grounded properly as well. The place where the middle hinge for the rear seats bolt to ,works fine for me. |
