I want to swap a 3S-GTE into my '94 GT but I'm worried that my stock tranny won't be able to handle the extra horsepower. What is a good FWD transmission that will handle the power and bolt right in? Also, which generation of 3S-GTE engine produces the most hp, and how can I identify it?

I'm not too familiar with the 3sgte engine but i'll try my best to help you out. The best transmissions you could use is one from a v6 Solara or v6 Camry model (not sure what years, but somewhat equivalent for both cars), The transmission from a JDM "Beams" Redtop 3sge (really hard to find), or even one from a SW20 MR2 Turbo since it already is equipped with a 3sgte and has LSD (but you might have to modify some parts on the celica to make use of the tranny). The ST205 3sgte makes the most factory HP you can have, but take into some considerations that some tuning to other 3sgte engines like a st185 can make even more horsepower and is easier to find over the ST205 3sgte.

stock tranny should work fine, but if you are going to upgrade to more power then you should go with the v6 Camry model tranny, but hard to find in some places......My tranny is holding on and has had no problems. I did up grade the clutch witch can cause more strain on the trans.
