There's been a lot of talk about this, but I was curious to know if anyone has tried contacting any of the manufacturers of turbos and superchargers (Greddy, Vortech, Jackson Racing) as to what it would take to consider making a turbo/supercharger application for the 5SFE motor in Celicas, Camrys and Solaras. AS you may know I'm selling a lot of uneccessary items to build up my engine. I don't want to do an engine swap, but I have considered forced induction. The only problem is I live in California and emissions are extremely strict. Any type of custom supercharger or turbo for my car would be illegal. So I am considering writing up a proposal for the above mentioned manufacturers to draw up support for a turbo/supercharger kit for our cars. The chance for success is small, but I tought I would try anyways.

What I'm looking for are people who are interested in getting one eventually or even not interested, but wish to support the cause. We need support for a Forced Induction Kit for 90-01 5S-FE motors for Celicas, Camrys, and Solaras. If you could send me your full name, year and model of your car, and email address I will begin compiling a list and end up sending it to the turbo/supercharger companies. Spread the word to all Celica owners as well as Camry's and Solaras.

Thanx
Joe

P.S. Sorry to all the ST/7AFE guys! This is primarily for 5S-FEs. Also, Coomer, is there a possibilty of perhaps sending an email to all the members of 6gc.net?

What about the MR2? wink.gif Isn't the second generation N/A MR2 powered by the 5S-FE?

Just get one of the universal kits out there and make your own piping to fit. I don't see where that would be any kind of violation, but then again, here in labama you could run oil into your fuel for a push button smoke screen and get away with it.

Unfortunately, I live in California. California has the strictest emission laws out of all 50 states in the US. Thergoverning body as far as air quality goes is called the California Air Resource Board (CARB). In California, a custom turbo is illegal. The only turbo/supercharger kits that can be placed on California cars are ones that have been CARB approved and have a CARB executive order number to show that they are not gross polluters. I am aware of the fact that Burien Toyota has a turbo kit, but they have no intention of getting it CARB certified. That is why I want to approach other manufacturers and I would much rather have a supercharger than a turbo.

Thanks
Joe
