About twice a month people will come to the door asking if my brothers 1984 Toyota Celica-Supra is for sale and it kinda hurts my feelings that no one likes my car. :-(
Yesterday a guy and his 16 year old son came by cuz the son liked the car and they were wondering if it was for sale since they havent seen it move and my dad is horrible with people. This is how the conversation went Guy - Hi. Im remodeling the house across the street and my son and i were wondering if the white celica was for sale since weve never seen it move My dad - ABSOLUTELY NOT Guy - ok then My dad - It was stolen a year ago and im still in the process of getting parts to fix it. How old is your son anyways? Guy - 16 My dad - He couldnt afford it anyways ME in the background - DAD!!!!!! THAT WAS RUDE! My dad - he couldnt afford the insurance on it either anyways i was so embarassed that my dad would say that. We dont know what that kid could or could not own. Its a 10,000 dollar car but how do we know that the guy isnt rich? I know a 17 year old kids mom who bought him an 85 celica-supra for i think it was 15,000 or something. It just made me mad my dad would say that! Makes me sad that no one comes asking if my cars for sale - sigh! Maybe if i left it sit there for long enough someone will ask. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

^they ask because his hasnt moved in like umpteen years...and because his probally (woudlnt know for sure) looks older, and if im not mistaken, i bet its parked in the front yard like 95% of the cars that are for sale in the world. right?

i'll take your car anyday.
What I think is that... they see an old ass car, and a slick Celica.. everyone would assume you're gonna sell the old ass car and keep the slick ride. Unless you put up a "FOR SALE" sign, I don't think ever in your life time people coming up askin if you are gonna sell the 6th gen. The car hasnt moved for a year its not like its been upteen years.
I would never go to a house asking if a car was for sale even if i didnt see it move. its in the driveway but blocked in by my dads car so it wont be stolen again. Sucks when a car 22 years old is worth more than ur 12 year old car. lol. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

some guy in my neighborhood has an amc delorean that he doesn't drive it just sits in front of his house and even though i know i can't afford it i ask him everytime i drive by if its for sale. to get the same response everytime..."NEVER!!!!" i just want to fly back to the future
i'd get the same question everyweek from random people if i was gonna sell my 66 chevelle, then i put a cover on it and they stopped asking -------------------- |

What I don't get is why you and your dad act like it's some exotic, and expensive car?

Sucks when a car 22 years old is worth more than ur 12 year old car. lol. it never hurts to try.. my cousin and i noticed this one 94 240SX sitting at some guy's back yard (no damages) for at least a year near our school, we decided to knock on his door to ask if he was selling it.. luckily, he didn't need the car. we then chitchatted for about 30 mins and got all friendly with the middle-aged guy (talking about cars and stuff), then he sold it to my cousin for $500 canadian.. fricken' sweet! -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

thats kind of funny cuz i get that quiet often. i have a 84 celica gts looks like a supra from the back and people always come by my house and ask if its for sale. hech i've had people on the freeway write on a piece of paper asking if it was 4-sale. your bro's supra has a 7mgte motor. just a lil extra power to get over them hills i see. id love to see some pics.

QUOTE Its also known as one of the 2 nicest in the PacNW According to.....? I agree with this guy. Nothing against you or your obvious love for the car, insurance wouldn't be that much nor would the car. A 1984 Celica Supra isn't exactly a collectors car, nor is it ultra rare. If I chose to restore one it would be very easy to find those parts at a junkyard. I also find that ignorant of your father and I would be quite embarrased too. Who knows, maybe the guy could have whipped out the checkbook and bought your house. If you want people to come by and ask about your car I suggest a "for sale" sign. |

Hmm CelicaSupra!
My brother had a 85 Ptype.. plenty have asked if it was for sale. It had a 6MGTE swap, fresh paint, Mickeys, and no rust. MKIIs are getting harder and harder to find. We built a 84 Ptype with a 2JZGTE boasting 400whp with a W58 (yikes!) Soon to be swapped with an R134 I'd trade my MKVI for a MKII [clean MKII anyways.. ] we still have a 7MGTE lying around.. haha |
