Seriously, I've seen everyone in here talk about intrax, eibach, trd springs, coilovers, konis, etc... somebody who actually KNOWS what the **** they're talking about should post some sort of a guide for all of us. I'm clueless when it comes to suspension compared to what I know about engines.
Anyone up for it? A *STICKY* about whats good and whats not? I'm not talking about some 16 year old who put coilovers on his car and preaches that it's gods gift to the earth, either. I really would like an analytical discussion based thread about what really goes well with our 6th gens. I understand there are so many mixes & matches of suspension parts, but there has to be some sort of a GUIDE LINE people can follow. for example : Koni Adjustables WILL : blah blah blah, blah blah blah Koni Adjustables WILL NOT : blah blah blah, blah blah blah Not trying to bitch, but I've seen the same questions over & over & over again on here. And they basically boil down to "WHICH ONE SHOULD I PICK?". I think a guide would help these people, as well as myself, tremendously. Anyone up for doing it? That way we can just redirect these questions (unless specific) to this sticky. |

Why don't you tell me what kind of ride quality and expectations you are looking for? Basically, if you're looking for a really low ride (1.7" drop), you WILL experience a rough ride, whether or not you use aftermarket shocks.
If you want a decent drop with good ride quality, then go with ANY spring that doesn't go below 1.5 and install the Koni yellows or KYB. I've got through three sets of springs: Eibach, H&R, and Custom. They're all pretty much the same. TRD = rebadged Eibachs. As for coilovers, these are only good if you clan on autocrossing, otherwise they're just a waste of money. Now I'm not talking about those (non-true) coilovers that Ground Control sells. Those aren't even adjustable. Now if you're just looking for all out ride comfort and quality... stay stock. I hope this helps in your decision. |

No, i'm not currently making a decision about suspension, i'm just discussing what everyone else in here is. I mean there really isn't a definitive guide to buying suspension parts for our car.. I see everyone asking the same question over & over again... If we had some sort of sticky explaining the amount of drop, how it affects performance, everything else.. I think a lot of people would have something to gain from it.
But ty for the advice anyway Kuya... anyone else have any kind of suggestions to everyone when purchasing suspension parts for our car(s)? I'm being very broad here about this subject, cause i'd like to read about all I can before *I* decide to purchase. |

yea true coilovers will definately put a dent in your pocket($1200+ !!!), but other than bragging rights they're really no use unless you're going to be autocrossing like kuya said. i think ground controls are definately over priced, even if they do have eibach springs integrated into their design. all of those linear fake coilovers are the same and arent going to differ much in ride quality. there are so many different things you can do to alter the ride quality when you install coilovers, so all i can say is take you time and keep on adjusting until you get the ride you want.

They're not just for autoxing. In about a week I'm getting the JIC SA-1 setup from Roo. True coilovers with 5 way adjustable shocks. I consider myself a road racer and I know they're gonna help me out a ****load on the various canyons here in LA. Also, I would like to plan on taking my car to the track eventually (might have to get a rollcage for the convert . If you are a freeway cruiser who doesn't do intense driving, then yes they're not worth it, but I can't wait.
