For Thanksgiving i decided to give my celi a thorough cleaning. While i was vacuuming the inside, i removed the back floor mats, pushed the drivers seat forward, and i found this box attached to the floor of the car. Does anyone know what it is? It's attached to something but i was too afraid to unplug it.

The thing is that i already have an alarm. but its aftermarket. i didn't see it get installed but would the aftermarket get installed somewhere else other that than the factory alarm location?

I'm pretty sure it's your stock alarm. there should be a button on it somewhere for programming a remote to work with it.

thats the control unit for the standard toyota central locking system, usually when u fit a aftermarket alarm, the alarm takes over, but if u are still using the standard key, then as an experiment u can disconect it and try the key, see what happens...

I think that guy found something in the back of his car.

But i've got one too, and a Toyota Alarm plate/button down and to the right of my steering wheel, it may just be the stock alarm, but who knows!?

I had the same thing (I can't remember if it looked exactly like that but it was in the same place and had that same wire going into the carpet to the center console). I had a feeling it was the alarm and when I went to the dealer for something else I asked about that too... and yeah, they said its for the factory alarm.

that may be true, and thats all fine and dandy, but whats cooler. To think of it as an alarm sensor thingy, or a super secret conspiracy that has toyota and the government linked. Ya, thats what i thought.

ok fine. I lied. the guy at the Toyota dealer said it was a tracking device/bomb and if you get within a certain distance of an undisclosed location of secret Toyota testing you and everyone/thing in the car with you go to hell in a big ball of flames. I said, thats cool and all but its adding weight so can you please take it out? and he said OK and took it out for me. now I work for the secret testing facility and I must tell you that it's not far from where you live. be careful. wink.gif
