Just wondering and knowing that it will cost a crapload. Anyone know if the V6 tranny bolt up to a V8?
Anyways this is best left to a Supra Motor bay. |

ok common guys he is serious. a v8 may fit in the engine bay, but i dont know about the tranny bolting up, but im sure you'll need a pretty hefty clutch

V8 = HORRIBLE swap candidate
things to consider cost power:weight ratio weight BALANCE ect. you can achieve the same thing using the V6 but with less cons but hey if you want a car that handles and is balanced like crap thats up to you! This post has been edited by playr158: May 13, 2008 - 9:29 AM |

Topic moved to the correct section.
------------------------------------ My V6 is already a very tight fit. I would assume that some serious custom work would need to be done, which = lots of money. Hopefully soon i'll get some detailed pictures up of the engine bay and you can see what i mean. you can achieve the same thing using the V6 (still a bad weight balance) but with less cons Please explain? The V6 weighs only a little more than the 5sfe, and less than the 3sgte. -------------------- Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJ

blacktop weights less :eeps: but didn't know it was less than a 3sgte...not bad, does that include tranny and accessories or is that just bare motor This is based on v6/i4 Camry numbers vs 5s/3s Celica numbers. It's true but we're talking 75lbs at most [and yes that would include accesories]. One thing to consider relative to your comments - the v6 puts more weight forward of the drive line than the S series motors so altho they have similar weights the balance is still significantly disturbed compared to S series motors. Doesn't appear to be an issue but it's true. In contrast the MR2 v6 swaps actually benifit from this as more of the engines weight is pushed towards the center of the vehicle. v8 has been done in an alltrac [if I'm not mistaken someone has made a thread here recently on this site but I've seen it before] using 1uz-fe and "twin" turbos. Search GT8 and you'll see. With enough money it's possible but more of a novelty than anything useful. -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. Already posted here 6G Celicas Forums > Other > Off Topic > anyone wanna explain this video??? http://youtube.com/watch?v=5C0veAb-CiM&feature=related The engine is longitudinal, rwd conversion (from 4cy awd so rear diff and drivesafts were there) There have been 6gc rwd conversion. I know of a Rasado Racing drag Celica in FL. The V8 is too wide to do transverse, so no fwd or AWD V8 Celica.... (unless you want to create a new front frame etc... ) > With enough money it's possible but more of a novelty than anything useful. True too true. Let the dreamers dream. Regards; |
