IMO it's a shame, and the end of an era at Toyota... I know the car is fairly polarizing thanks to its design and lower power output, but no one can deny the fact that it could handle curves like few others out there... The black on red makes me wish that they still were sold here so I could have the chance to possibly snatch one up kindasad.gif

I don't car what others say about it being underpowered(it was), it was a great enthusiast car and I have always wanted one with a 2zz.

I was reading something about this last night. I was gonna post something but decided not to. But I'm glad you guys brought this up. Yeah, I don't know why they decided to stop productions on the MR-S aka MR-2 Spyder. The MR series were the only RWD they had left on the US market after the Sprinters. I don't know why Toyota is doing this? Probably becuz of the automobile competition in the market esp with the new Hondas that are coming out. But it really breaks down to who really buys their cars. But hey, they brought back the SUPRA, maybe they'll bring back the Celica and MR-2 as well in about 8-10 years.

Brought back the Supra? What?... Since when.. ??

MRS aka MKIII MR2, poor man's Elise, a real drivers car. Underpowered as they may be. They are great, nimble, and agile. Representing the beginning of the MR2 Legacy. Representing the Eagle, Aerodynamics and advancement.

K.. enough of that haha..

Toyota has gone to the leafy green side of the market. Whats their use of these sports cars? Sure in the future we "might" be able to see something similar to them again. In a different name. But not in a long long while.. Toyota's focus is on their Trucks and their passenger vehicles. The Cams and Corollas.

If Toyota ever kills of the Corolla [Doubt it..] They would be insane..

once toyota says it will go into production you can start stating that there is a new supra... Toyota hasn't confirmed any bit of info on ANY new sportscar... BMW for a few years now have publicly stated that they are developing hydrogen-cell technology for their road cars but you don't hear anyone anticipating the 7 series with hydrogen power (even though they have been showcased quite a bit), because BMW hasn't made claims to production yet... Pipe dreams, my friend...

I have to agree but hey, who knows, dreams may come true from the looks of it. Lets hope it's the real deal.

But the new Lexus LF-A looks more closer to a new MK-V Supra.

Taken from the "We Hear"(whatever that means) column in the december 2006 issue of motor trend.

"BMW has launched a liquid hydrogen-
powered v-12 7 series, which will be
available to about 25 weathy people
in the U.S. and 100 worldwide. Called
the 7 series hydrogen 7, it features a
conventional gas tank as backup for when
you run out of hydrogen and can't find a
refueling station. Running on hydrogen,
the v-12 is rated only 260 horsepower and
propels the 7 series from 0-62 mph in a
new-world-orderly 9.5 seconds. Top speed
is artificially limited to 143 mph."

The idea of whether or not this article is speculation, or facts that they have received from BMW seems a little elusive. This column might be the magazines tool to report news that may or may not be true and disquise it ambiguously as possibly fact.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Blitzo has 325s in the rear and he still struggles with traction yikes!

How can the MKII be the true MR2? The MR2 isn't all about power. The story or history, behind the Eagle [crazy chicken]of Toyota is a new vehicle that advances in aerodynamics and a vehicle that rises above its competitors. Meaning..wouldn't the true MR2 be the first one?

the MKII is the odd ball of the three. MKI and MKIII are light and very nimble, both have low hp [even the SC] The MKII is the pig of the family with a big appetite for power.

Plenty of people will say that the MKII is the best of the best. Sure. But thats only an opinion. =[ I think otherwise.

there is a guy in Woodbridge NJ who has a MR-S with a 3rd gen engine in it. I saw the car and listen to the guy talking to my cousin about the engine specs but at the time I knew 100 % less than what I know now about toyota engines ( and I don't know too much right now ). is a shame, right now if you decide to get a new sport car and wanna stick with toyota, you would have to either get a 4 door sporty lexus ( $$ ) or just forget about sport car from toyota, I'm really looking forward to see something new from them in the next 3 years so I can be ready to get whatever new sport machine they put out there fror us.
