I'm putting a new head gasket on the Celica and I'm wondering if anyone has any info specific for this motor, or otherwise, that they'd like to share. I'll try to make a how-to out of this project if I can.

QUOTE(presure2 @ Nov 25, 2006 - 6:34 PM) are you installing the 98+ metal gasket? Come on man, you know I'm going for the 98+ metal one. If I had forgotten I would be happy you reminded me though. Thanks. I was thinking they switched them all to metal for replacement parts. But I'm going for the 98+ just in case. But, are there any issues with it? I didn't even think about the cooling lines or oil lines being different for it. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

not that i know of.
make sure the 2 mating surfaces are CLEAN, like REALLY clean. in most cases they tell you to have the block and head decked when switching over to a metal gasket. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I can't pull the block to have it decked. I would if I was rebuilding the motor, but I can't. I'll make sure it's clean though. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy
