My brother in-law was up in Seattle on business driving a rental car when he got pulled over for doing 45 in a 35. He said the girl looked really young & fresh out of the academy. (just keep that in mind)

Anyway she asked for his information, & since it was a rental car he handed her the packet of information supplied to him from the rental place. She takes it & comes back w/ a ticket for $800!! He asks her why its so high & she said "oh, you didnt have proof of insurance" So he told her that it was in the packet he handed her. She looks through it again & says "oh! yeah here it is" He asked her if she was going to re-write the ticket...but she said that it was too late to change because it was already submitted! So he now he has to go to court to straighten it out.

What kind of BULL S***T is that!??? I would be so pissed! It was her frikin fault so I think she should have to fix it.......right!?

He doesnt even live up there so now he has to make a special 3 hour road trip to go to court because of her mistake...

I'm pretty sure he can call the court and straighten it out, there's no need for a 3 hour trip.

If the traffic corts there are like the ones here, he'll get off the ticket. No cops ever go to traffic courts here. But yea thats slightly rediculus about the whole no proff of insurance bull. But by the sounds of the fact that she was a newbi cop, shes probably gonna show up in court. But yea...stupid though. Hopefully every thing is gonna work its self out.

even if the female cops shows up in court. he's not liable to pay the $800 fine since it's not his mistake.

IMO he shouldn't have handed her a pile of papers. He should of went through it himself. She prob said to herself, "I'm not searching though this f-ers papers, screw him."

well...he works late/early hours....it was 1:30am & he was on his way to his hotel room to get some sleep so I doubt he was even thinking about it lol

anyway IMO she should have asked him if the insurance info was in the car since she didnt see it in the paper work instead of just assuming he didnt have it @ all...ya know?

not true, cops often show up to traffic court in Ontario, especially now considering the fact they recently started getting paid to go to traffic court.
