Nice DDs Fastbird and Forkee.
I guess Fastbirds DD is the earlier ecilpse unit and Forkee has the later version. Does one version stay more flush with the dash console than the other? I see fastbird's isnt completly flush, but since forkee doesnt have a side'ish view I cant tell about the later version. I know its nit-picky, but I been thinking about getting one but it kills me that the screen may not fit flush with the dash console. Is this just problem the mounting bracket? -------------------- |

Ours is a Kenwood Excelon DDX-8017. It wsa the top of the line Kenwood model for 2005. Christmas present for the wife last year. I wanted to spring for the Eclipse AVN-3500 ( I think that's it) but couldn't afford it at the time.

i have the first edition DD eclipse made for the US market. if you look close you can see that the volume is on the passenger side. eclipse just rewrote the software in english and sent the unit here. so everythng is backwards.I have had mine sit flush but because the unit is slightly smaller than the hole it looked weird.

Here is mine. It is fairly flush, but does stick out a tad (under a cm), but I think it looks better than the ones that are completely flush (forkee) because the "flusher" looking ones tend to have a gap around the outside. Since mine protrudes a bit, I can attach a faceplate type border that attaches around the outter edge giving it a cleaner look IMO. I also like how the border goes right up underneath the vents and just above the CC. BTW I also had to drill out a bit of the trim above and below.

bringing this back from the dead-
are any of these equipped with navigation systems? That's what I’d really like to find. BTW they look great. I hate that compartment under the head unit and I want to utilize that space for something better :-D This post has been edited by ILuvMyCelica95: Jun 13, 2007 - 10:07 AM -------------------- Buy my Celica $2,500 - http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0

Our Kenwood has an add-on nav unit (made by Garmin) for about $400.
