I was surfing the web and I found a bunch of Celica concepts:
"Introduced around the time of the new Celica the "Ultimate Celica" was designed to peek interest in the then new 2000 Celica. To put it simply the Ultimate Celica was a $500,000 concept car. The engine and driveline were lifted from the 6th generation GT4 and a redesigned 7th generation body was put on top. Powering the Ultimate Celica is an over bored 3S-GTE with a Garrett turbocharger putting out just under 500 HP. Unfortunately, the car seems more show than go as tests conducted by various magazines showed less than stellar acceleration times. There were also rumors that the car was/is extremely fragile and that it may have actually been built as all show and no go...(Only Rod Millen knows for sure) Unfortunately, as Toyota has no interest in WRC, a GT-4 model, such as the Ultimate Celica is not likely to reappear any time in the foreseeable future. It might also be important to note that this car was called the "F1 Celica" overseas...something that may hint at something based off this design in the future." I thought these looked neat, so I'm sharing. |

QUOTE like i've been saying, the top first was a concept...just never made it into production.. No. It is photoshopped. As in someone took a hatch and tried to make it look like a wagon. Not a concept, just poor photoshopping. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money
I'm not really an asshole, but I play one on the internet. **** Photobucket |

i dont think the first one was photochopped cause i saw the magazine where is was featured and it was a concept model that was made but never put into production. same as the 7th gen convertable.

a convertible celica? the girls would have loved that. It always confused me why they never made a convertible 7th gen or a convertible Mercury Cougar. I believe both cars are aimed at a more feminine market.

I have no idea why Mercury didn't but look at the picture of the 7th gen convertible - now that's just fugly. Same reason they didn't make a coupe version. The lines of the 7th gen just don't flow well with either of those two designs.
