Especially in a st does the accerleration improve like in aggresive driving and stuff let me know. Where is a good place to buy a short shifter also?

in some cars if they the shifter is real bad you'd noticed a shorter throw. When i installed my short shifter, it felt the same as my stock one, probably worst..........
try the search button, i believe you can use the 7th gen shifter, otherwise ebay, performance shops, etc..... |

I don't think I've actually driven a Celica with a stock shifter before (except Corey's/ silver94celicaowner but I didn't really know what I was doint at the time and can't compare) but I love my TRD shifter. its very smooth and shifts pretty effortlessly compared to the 7th gen IMO. problem is its more expensive

i have the ebay 7gc ss. acceleration improved slightly. maybe too slighty to notice any improvement. but it looks better. and i can shift using only 2 fingers and resting my elbow on the arm rest. plus it was only like 30 bucks.

So you are talking about a shorter shift lever and not an actual short shifter assembly then right? I have shortened the shift lever on many Toyotas [MR2's Celica's etc.] and can tell you all this will really do is give you the feel of a short shifter and your hand will move in a smaller "box" or area. Won't improve acceleration by anything noticeable. It will look better to though. If anybody wants one of these for free just send me a spare lever from the junkyard and indicate how much and where [as in the straight part or do you want the bend taken out] you want it shortened. I will be happy to do it for free. You just pay shipping.

Sparks Toyota Scion was the cheapest [and I think only] place I could find one when I needed it. I got mine for like $180 shipped. I didn't really want to hold off my entire swap just to wait for a cheaper one to go on ebay. its about $165 at ToyotaWorld right now. part # PTR042094004

with a short shifter you can chirp through gears if you get the rpm's high enough right?

short shifters have nothing to do with rpms. its simply a stick that decreases the shifting distance between gears so less time is spent with the clutch held down, which slightly improves acceleration.

x2. It will be a better clutch and a lightweight flywheel that will improve acceleration so you can "CHIRP."
