YES I KNOW THIS ISNT A CELICA! but its the same engine/pcm.

so my friend installed a bigger DP (3") and is running it open till he can get the exhaust on. is this fuel cut he's experiencing normal? i didnt know it wouldnt allow ANY boost till the next key cyle!

Anyway, it's boosting up to 13psi, but not any higher than that. I'm kind of relieved because I started to think that maybe there could be a problem with the wastegate. I had to manipulate it some when I installed it.

Like I said before, once I hit the fuel cut it wont let me boost to even 1 psi before it cuts out again. All I have to do is turn the car off, then back on again and it resets it, but still a problem nonetheless.

So, first thing is to get the exhaust fixed. After that, we will see where it goes.

no reason for it to stop like that without major mods...
i still rule it as fuel cut, and the boost gauge he's using is getting a bad reading or ber-roke!

well i know its fuel cut and so does he, is it normal for it to, after the 1st fuel cut, not allow ANY boost without hitting FC until the next key cycle?

such as...
boosting, hit 12, fuel cut, back off, reboost, hit 1psi, fuel cut. till the car is turned off and back on.

is THAT normal is what i'm trying to ask for him. i know a little about the 3sgte, but i'm not familiar with the deep specifics.

yes its normal, its a safety feature from toyota. The ecu will not allow boost after fuel cut. You have to shut off the car to reset it.

thanks! he wasnt sure if thats normal (his 1st toyota) and i wasnt able to answer him well when he asked me if it was normal. i'll let him know all is well.

he's not new to boost, just new to toyotas. he's pretty well know in the mitsubishi and eclipse circles, even had his boosted eclipse GT in one of the magazines.

lol, my car doesn't do that. . .
when i hit fuel cut it sputters...
then if i get back on it it'll just go up to fuel cut again.
if i don't let off right as it sputters, it continues to try and boost, and

somehow goes like this throughout the process:
0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-10-10-10-11-12-13-14-cut(0?)-(number b/t 15 and 24)
it's damn crazy, and the only reason i know it got this high was the hold feature on the boost gauge.

x2 Pretty much what all the 2's around here do. A golf tee and a zip tie to hold it in place works wonders for capping the vac line.

he's going to get the rest of his exhaust on (its still going to creep) and then go from there. its the stock ct26 on the car. the one original to it seized and snapped off the exhaust side! so he got a rebuilt one and put it on with the downpipe since it was all apart.
