your correct with wanting wrinkle but wheel size isnt as important as sidewall size you can still use a 17" wheel and have the same side of a 16" wheel depending on sidewall size. but i get what ur saying with a smaller wheel u can fit more tire on it.

but u need to draw the line somewhere. straight lines yes sidewall = flex = grip, but in the twisties too much sidewall = sidewall curling under the wheel. eww. so u need to find a happy medium if ur gunna be running the same tires for everything. easier to get some nice drag radials.

its also misleading when u say for best traction use the smallest wheel, maybe so but what will give u even more traction than just a small wheel is having a taller Tire, the more area a tire covers in one rotation the more torque it can spread out to the ground. i can ran roast little wheels all day long but put on a taller tire and your trap speed will increase by a few mph just because the wheel covers more ground with each rotation.

i agree with everything u said Dan smile.gif

another thing is that the smaller wheel will have less rotational mass then a bigger one. so even with more sidewall, the smaller lighter wheel will be easy to spin on street tires. think about it this way, even a stock ST can loose traction on 14in rims, but no way would it be able to spin 19s, right?

the wrinkle dan is talking about, is something you often see on drag slicks. something you would want on the track, but not on the street.

the best thing to do is to is the find a balance of the 2 things. a nice 17x8in rim, with the biggest and widest tire you can fit on there, would probably work out well for street use, while still looking good.

i love u guys... thumbsup.gif ok so what i plan to do next is lower the car (tein s like most of the people here) i DEFINATELY want to get the size lagos has. 245 45 17. for the strip (if i can ever get out there) im thinking i want to get some Bull$#!T 14" steelies and some tires that are like 30 bucks.

im still trying to find out more about what goes from gen2&3 onto a gen4 its hard searching though kindasad.gif

btw... for those with the 3s swap what was the FIRST thing you did after you put in the motor to enhance performance? (besides dyno)

Well - i will be first to say - but Guy in STi cant drive or the STi in US sucks. IMHO 3SGTE from caldina or 3gen running stock boost does not have a chance over the STi.

By the way - what year STi was?

doggy, the stock sti's around here put out about 250hp to the wheels. most 3s swaps dyno at around 220-250 with basic mods. so from a roll, we should be dead even or faster then an sti.

dude thats bench racing, weight, airflow, all comes into account.

For me, boost controller/bigger injectors/ bigger fuel pump/ intake/ exhaust/ downpipe
