After some thoughts about exhausts and more searching through this site which is a joy, i have decided that unless i can get a shop to make up an exhaust for l less than being ripped off for $375 cat back, i will just buy a muffler. I want the greddy sp2 based on what others say about how it sounds but what do you think about the OBX sp2?

Ebay OBX muffler

Oh and I found the cat back SP2 still available if anyones interested.(at least it says it is)
SP2

That's actually a good muffler! It's not one of those cheapy $10.00 muffler you find on ebay that's for sure. I use to have that when I still had the 7afe and had no problems and it sounded almost the same as the Greddy SP2, except a bit more quieter due to the factory exhaust piping. I would buy it again in the future. biggrin.gif

Note: That's even the same seller I bought the SP style muffler from.

An exhaust shop should likely quote you around $110-150 on putting an exhaust that you want. From the looks of it, I would consider a 2.25" exhaust piping from the cat-back(mandrel bend recommended), a 20" magnaflow resonator (which will be located at the same spot where you factory one is located), followed by the OBX SP2 muffler in the rear. This should give you similar, if not better, exhaust tone and response as the Greddy SP2 exhaust. I'm guessing about $100 for both the resonator and OBX SP2 muffler, which would lead to maybe around $200-250 for the entire exhaust setup. That beats paying almost $400 IMO for an authentic SP2.

I'd say steer away from OBX. Seiously, I hate the brand. Everything I've seen from them is low-quality. My buddy had a full catback system in his WRX and not only was it ugly, it also sounded loud and obnoxious. it didn't make the engine sound like a boxer; it was more of a Civic's raspiness and drone. Oh, and the OBX gauges, which break under normal use. Ever since the first time I saw the brand, I put it in the same category as APC. Not a brand for a real tuner looking for quality. Hell, I'd sell you my Magnaflow muffler so you don't buy an OBX.
