I personally like autopage if you want a remote start/alarm combo. The siren's sound louder and different than those 6-tone sirens.

I'd say go with either a Crimestopper or Clifford, they are both great alarm systems.

i would advise to stay away from crimestopper, i wasn't satisfied with my 2-way paging system. The pager jammed quite often, requiring me to take the battery out and back in to reset the remote. The shock sensor was near impossible to set right and the range was too short. Also I had problems with the trunk open, the buttons where too easy to push (not deep enough), therefor i found my trunk to be open quite often... exposing my $800 sound system. The shock sensor would go off when it gets cold, the alarm was very hard to de-activate, it required me to push disarm over and over again for 10-15 seconds. it just simply pissed me right off.

Personaly I chose compustar's top of the line paging system and I'm very happy with it, works perfectly, signal penetrates buildings and goes far. The remote is a belt clip (like a cellphone), I hardly ever notice it's there unless I reach for it. My only complaint is the shock sensor is hard to adjust because warning and trigger are too close to each other. the only downside is it's expensive but imo there is no corners to be cut when it comes to security.

I currently have a crimestopper in my car and I have nothing but compliments about it. It was all setup at the dealer though so maybe that's why?

edit: I can't type

Trust me, mine was setup correctly. I'm a vehicle conversion electrician, alarm systems installs are a joke to me. Most of my problems were communication related anyways (remote). I don't think there's a science in installing a battery in a remote.

I ended up putting it in my beater with no paging feature, no shock sensor, just the one way remote and it works good for a beater.

Maybe the model I got was plagued with problems/bugs, CS-2016.FM
It was the new top of the line crime stopper alarm/pager/starter at the time.

Wow $1100. What all does it do for that amount and does that amount include installation?

I'm getting the one with the longest range.

With every option available. I can't name every one...

Turbo timer
device that if car is lifted certain degree alarm goes off (stealing of rims)
if movement is in the car, a cat can trigger it, floating balloon
back up batt
starter kills (2 I think)
A lot of sensors windows, trunk
Remote starter
Installation of $100
manuel tranny add $100

it all adds up.

From what he said only compustar and another brand is certified and approved to for manuel tranny.

has anyone thought about or has the Viper 791XV? I'm thinking about having that installed on my car in the next month or so.
