the dealership wants an insane amount of money for a new one, plus even more just to program it, and mine is retarded, it likes to stop working in the most unconvienent times, so i think i need a new one .... does anyone know where i can get one fairly cheap?

Is your whole system dead or just your remote? My remote was falling apart and overall didnt work to well. It got to the point that i had to epoxy that bitch back together again multiple times (cant get the battery out without some real work. Anyway one day i decided i might as well try to find a new remote just in case. I searched online and found a site that sold me a replacement remote for like 30 bucks or something i think. Came with instructions to reprogram too. Overall took about 30 seconds to program the new remote and the keyless entry works better than ever.
Now all i need is to find a new remote for my remote starter then i'll be straight, or even better a remote that will work my remote starter, and my keyless, probably doable, just i'm a moron and wont look for these things.....

If you're going to get a whole new system, you can get a Crimestopper keyless entry system with two remotes for around $50 shipped I think. I used to have one in my car before I got my Autopage alarm with remote start, and I liked it a lot. smile.gif

I had a question along the same lines. I purchased a remote on ebay for the rs3000 alarm system (stock toyota system) and the only difference in the remote is it had a grey shell instead of black. The remote wont work with my alarm! and the guy says its my fault cause he tested the remote before sending it. What would be the difference between the grey and black remote?

it's just the remote ... i think it's broken inside or something, or the battery moves around inside, cause it'll work fine for a while, then all of a sudden, it just stops ... which really sucks cause i don't know how to disarm the alarm without using the remote .... when i try to just unlock the door, it sets off the alarm, and then i can't get it to stop without pushing the button, so it beeps for like 5 hours, until i eventually get the remote to work again .... it's incredibly annoying!!

do you know the website that you ordered yours from?

actual programming is pretty easy, you do something like press a little button on the system controller (mine is under drivers seat) then press the button on the new remote, turn off the car.
