I want to get lowering springs for my '94 GT with about a 2 inch drop, what are some good springs to get and how much can I expect to pay? I don't really care about increased performance or ride comfort, what I want to know about is safety and if they will throw off my allignment, camber, etc. I'd rather not get coilovers because they cost more and like I said, I don't really care about increased performance or ride comfort. Also, is it possible to install them myself? if not, how much to get it done at a shop? I would really appreciate any input you can contribute. Thanks

I just did mines today. I didn't replace the Struts or anything so I'm running aftermarket springs (TEIN Lowering Springs) on stock struts. But still, it took me and my uncle about 3 hours the most. If you have a air wrench drill, it saves you ALOT of trouble. It was me and my uncle's first time so I think we did a good job. My car makes a weird ass sound now everytime my car gets a bit bumpy but I don't think it's the springs cuz they aren't loose nor wrong. Im very picky about stuff put onto my car so I made sure everything was installed right and secure. But I think my hatch is loose? I don't know what it is. But me and my uncle couldn't take out the rear lsway bar inkages that is attached to the strut mounts. And ended up tearing the boot of one of them. I hope that isn't the problem. Those things were rusty and is a pain in the butt to get out. But yeah, it depends on your skill level. It isn't that hard. Just gotta take off the tires, and unbolt the 2 large strut bolts off the axle. Another hassle is compressing the springs. The two fronts we didn't have to. But the two rears (which are the longer springs) are a pain. But yeah, good luck with your installation. And take your time. It'll be worth it.

The claimed drop on the loweringsprings is compared to new unused originls...

The original spring do lose some tension over time.... not making the drop so obvious

yeah my intrax say 1.8 could be lower depending on struts but honestly our cars need a bigger drop than most because our fenders are bigger than integras for example, making it harder to closen the fender gap.

I recomend Eibach sportlines. While they are only a 1.5" drop, they give the car a clean look. But be aware that you will bottom out your springs alot more if you do not replace the shocks along with them, especially on a high mileage car. And something that I just had happen to my car is that my lowering springs put the axles at an odd angle that puts about 2 or 3 times more wear on the axle joints. I ended up having a rough ride almost like having a broken engine mount and had to have the axles on both sides replaced. And they said expect to have to replace them again within the next couple of years. But I definately recomend the Eibach sportlines! just my 2 cents...

depending on how miles on your car, you can replace the shocks and struts and sway end links. depending on how evil your end links are to get off it really doesnt take that long.

i really think that the way the bottom of our cars are designed prevents us from getting springs that lower our cars as low as most hondas...

cause if u look under a honda, the bottom is completely flat with the body of the car. but if u look under a toyota, there is stuff hanging lower than the body of the car... so although the body of the car looks pretty high, the stuff under it is prolly really damn low already

if your looking for a 2 inch drop, i suggest you get your alignment adjusted afterwards. i went with a 1 inch drop, and i am happy with it. the drop is noticable and i will later be filling the gap with a set of 225-50 tires (imo a bigger tire size is a better way to fill the gap than to drop siginificantly). there comes a point where it just becomes impractical if its a daily driver. as for installing them, i did them myself. wasnt too difficult. didnt use a spring compressor, just had my brother help. only problem i had were the nuts on the rear struts, those things were tight as hell and i split a socket. also the rear sway bolt has caused problems for some because the hex wrench strips it. i didnt have a problem though.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Thanks for your insight guys, I don't plan on doing suspension anytime soon, but when I do I think I'll stay with a minimal drop to avoid clearance and allignment problems.

Top strut mounts on the rear need replacing. Its best to just go OEM replacement with those.

For now I don't think I'll be getting springs, although I appreciate the offer.

you might as well change the struts if you take out the springs
