I am going to be replacing my 7a-fe with an st205 3sgte pretty soon and I was wondering if the regular hood will fit over the intercooler or will I need to get an st205 hood?

Get a FMIC why? the water to air intercooler on the st205 is very efficient. i believe it will fit, but its close. a local st205 swap ive seen had some rub marks on the top from he said occured when he had the oem hood on (now has the st205 hood). also, defgeph had the oem hood on with his st185rc with no problems. -------------------- I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. |

Yes and no.
It will fit (BARELY) but the rocking of the engine back and forth because of acceleration will/can cause slight damage to the top of the intercooler. I have driven with the regular hood for about 6 months and had 2 minor scratches on it. But in the long run it could damage the intercooler I think. + You really dont have any fresh air going underneath it to keep everything cool. Didn't measure it with real meters but I could tell the difference in performance and under-the-bonnet heat from both stock and GT4 hood. So in the long run its in your best interest to get either a GT4 hood, or a aftermarket (VIS GT4 lookalike hood) that atleast clears it with a few cm's QUOTE(celicaST @ Jan 6, 2007 - 9:16 PM) QUOTE(Rockford @ Jan 6, 2007 - 1:05 PM) QUOTE(6g25th @ Jan 5, 2007 - 7:26 AM) I am going to be replacing my 7a-fe with an st205 3sgte pretty soon and I was wondering if the regular hood will fit over the intercooler or will I need to get an st205 hood? ST185RC W2A intercooler is at least 1 cm thinner then a ST205 W2A intercooler This post has been edited by Kadett: Jan 6, 2007 - 3:18 PM -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
