![]() I've only got one small issue is that on the UK spec GT (early 95) I've not got the yellow spiral connector but my horn doesn't work. is it just a case of finding the black wire and extending it then attaching to the gen 7 wheel? Got any picture of how it was connected to your previous wheel? Surely there isn't some rocket science behind the horn connector, can't be anything more than a single wire that makes a negative contact when pressed

You'd think it'd be simple but in the ones shown there there's the yellow spiral adaptor on mine there isn't one. I couldn't see a black wire else it'd be simply just a case of extending the wire back to the bolt (not the centre spline) which would attach the wheel to so when the horn is pressed the circuit s complete surely?

The harness that goes from the clock spring to your cruise control also handles the horn. There would have been a black wire that was riveted to the internal spring structure of the stock wheel. You need to cut that wire off of the stock wheel and put an end on it that will allow you to bolt it to one of the four nuts on the airbag explosive. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

At the very least there should be (or should have been) a black ground wire attached to the old steering wheel. You just need to find where it went, and hook it to the back of the 3-spoke wheel's explosive.

Part costs $16 on this site, but shipping is a bit high at $10 for UPS ground. Edit: sub-"herness"? lol Hey whats up everyone,, got a quick question, I am in the middle of this swap,, got the cruise control squared away so I'm just left with the airbag connection. For those of you who have done this swap with this subharness,,,does it really make a difference, meaning no srs airbag light on? I don't mind splicing wires n what not but if i know that this subharness will not give me any code issues off the bat then I'd feel more comfortable about shelling out $40 bucks,, (shipping is pricey) Any input at all greatly appreciated, thanks again for all you who have contributed to this topic. ok it depends on what u want. you can get this adapter, you can splice the harness or you can buy the clock ring.
the clock ring part n0 84306-12070 it came in various cars and can be had for cheap en ebay and yards. ravs, camrys, some lexus. I am going to get the appropriate part because just in case I ever sell the car, but mostly ill be more content. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

I was reading that those that did this swap were getting the SRS airbag light on right, and were having to reset the airbag ECU to get the code to clear. I haven't connected the airbag yet,, but whether I go with splicing the wires or the harness adapter, if i get the airbag light on I can just remove the code with a OBD II scanner correct, to eliminate it,,, or do either way I need to reset the airbag ECU no matter what route I choose? Just calculating my next step lol. |

ok, when i did mine, never got the airbag light on. and I spliced mine,
it is when i did my swap, that i ran the car with no airbag, that i got the code. so maybe people hooked the batteries while they car the car with no bag.. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

Using this harness might be a good idea if you feel that you will someday switch back to your stock wheel. -------------------- |
