Today I prepped my 7th gen Celica wheel for install in a 4 post wheel equipped wheel car. I didn't want to do any cutting and splicing so I depinned the 7gc clockspring plug and repinned it for a 6gc plug.

Here's the difference, for anyone interested:

So I depinned the plug, and had to cut off the old pins and solder in some of the bigger donor pins. I was trying to avoid this, but it's not difficult. Three wires and I was finished, but it would only be one wire for anyone who doesn't have the E shift buttons.

After that was finished, I put all of the new plugs into their homes. The two wires on the far left are for the E-shift buttons so you guys can ignore them. They'll be used in a different project.

Now that this is done, I will be able to use an IS300 clockspring to get the signal out of the steering wheel and into the steering column. Of course, the plugs in the steering column won't plug into the IS300 clockspring, but I grabbed some plugs and pigtails at the junkyard a few days ago so I can repin those and make the IS300 clockspring and 7th gen steering wheel all plug and play for a Toyota equipped with a 4 spoke steering wheel. Since my Celica came stock with the 3 post wheel, none of that was necessary, but I have a new project coming up...

Did you ever get this swap functioning. I am interested in getting media controls into the my Celica.
