i have a 94 ST coupe.....im gonna start to work under the hood, but which intakes are better?? CAI, short ram, or just regular intakes???and which brand works best???........ please put your input, i would really appreciate it..

just get a k&n air filter which i think works the best simple and easy

AEM dont makeit for our car
injen is CAI
weapon R secret weapon is nice heard its good also but not CAI

its all about the same.

for our car anyway

i would guess that if you made your own cold air, and made a cut out in the fender well, or some other spot were you will get lots of air, then that would be the best.

injen is sri not cai but it sure is nice!
a drop in k&n filter is nice too, just remove the under bottom reservior because its restrictive.
you can modify any cai and make it work as long as you dont mind cutting and using couplings

when i installed my cheap ebay short ram intake i actually lost power, but gained a decent noise.

after about 6 months i put the stock back on, and i'll never get another short ram again.

im thinking of getting a secret weapon r intake...... that seems to get the most positive input...... i can only find an injen intake for the GT's though mad.gif

i got an injen short ram. in my opinion i think all of them are the same. i recommend changing to an aftermarket muffler too along with the intake. you will feel a slight increase of horsepower and your car will sound good. it helps the engine breathe smoother because of better air flow.

i just bought a kn filter and a 2.5inch coupling for shop-vacs at lowes and made my own short ram. no point in paying for a brand name on an intake in my opinon.

also as another option, here is a shortram intake by kn for the st

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I have a short ram intake off of E-Bay with a K&N filter. It feels a little more responsive when I get on it and has a pretty good sound. In my opinion, an intake is an intake. Doesn't matter if it's $100 or homemade, just as long as it is less restrictive than the clunky stock air box and has a good filter.

In my experiences best setup is to run pipe from intake manifold straight towards front of car; remove your left bright headlight and replace with cone filter. works well for me because its pretty much all bolt on/off and rearange. kinda cool too because it somewhat works as a forced induction.

as far as filters go, i use a high weave steel mesh filter when hitting the time attack, and just throw in a K&N when driving. ( don't drive with steel mesh normally. wont filter out dust and dirt.)

the best thing to do is the cold air. i had a short ram at forst that i bought from ebay but then it was bad,i also lost horsepower.so me and my friend bought a cold air from ebay againg and it didnt feat,becayse y selicahad cruise control and that cold air was only withou cruise control.so we bought some some pipes and we put it down where the old intake wa right under the fender.works purfect,sound like i have a turbo in my car when i hit 2nd gear of a bout 3-4rpm.and not only that but i gain like 10hp.so do this,this works purfect.
