tonight i quick ran to the store and when i got back in the garage i notice some heat waves coming out of the hood...i pop it open and i can literally hear coolent in the radiator hose boiling inside...something has to be very wrong...any ideas? I am throwing an error code on the dash..it looks like the chevy symbol with red wavy lines over it.. Its the one right over the battery code..Im sure this has something to do with it. Plus how hot to the touch is my water cooler suppose to be cuz thats also also rather hot. I dont have my sensor hooked up to my watercooler...does that have anything to do with it. .? Thanks guys

Ok fella,

i get that alot too.......

you don't say but it is a 3s g'T'e you have under the hood ??

the warning light thats coming on is not in my celica hand book (yes i got the users manual)
but i'm told it's you 'Cat' converter over heating!

this is cause from it getting dirty and clogged from sitting with the engine running......

only 205 dashboards have this lamp as i understand due to the extra heat from the engine in full boost smile.gif

Answer take of your 'CAT' and get a straight though down pipe smile.gif

your best bet would be to check out one of the GT 4 sites like www.gt4ec.net

Good luck mate

Boiling coolant usually means you have air in the system...top it up as much as you can so that there is no air in your coolant circuit...that should solve your boiling problem.

if the water level sensor is disconnected the check engine light will come on and the pump wont run, think its code 54. if you have the sensor bypassed and the water cooler system is not filled, or has air pockets in it, it will make a bubbly sound when the pump runs and also will not cool very well. also the pump will only run for a min or 2 after it sees an open throttle condition. with my engine idling for a while the top of the IC is very cool to the touch.

another note is if the coolant in the radiator was boiling, it would likely blow the radiator cap

I have this problem all the time. With my gt4 vent it actually comes flying thru the vent onto my windshield. I just pour some water in there and call it good. Hasnt caused any overheating of my car. Plus i always have seen airwaves from the GT4 hood.

Since ur car is turbo'd you may have more to worry about but mines been doing this for a few months now and other than causing a mess and smelling it hasnt really done much.

Granted I am getting a engine rebuild in the next few months.

i have my sensor bypassed so maybe it is just the bubbly sound...but it sounded like it was coming from directly right of the intercooler...Plus im sure it has air pockets in there because i am leaking coolant from the firewall..so i take it has something to do with that..im going out there right now to fill it back up and hopefully find some way to stop it leakin by the firewall...

As for my cat getting over heated...i have a brand new on from my new 2.5 inch exhaust system..why would that be giving my and problems and why would it be dirty already??? Cripes!

make sure you keep it filled up or you will burn out the IC waterpump.
