Here it is guys…the setup was done by teal_terrorgt out in jersey under a tree . A lot of his hard work went into it and I’d like to thank him for it all. It was a kit ordered from ebay, was supposed to be costumed for the mr2 5s. I was a lil discouraged at first after asking around on this site and being told the kit wouldn’t fit, and I would have a lot of problems. But my (vic) made it happen. I don’t really know too much about the setup because I am still learning, but the turbo itself is a t3\t4 holset, and I do know it’s running an external waste gate. I am also running a grip force stage 3 clutch and a fedenza light weight flywheel.
Here are some pics Here is a video...Youtube wasn't working so i had to stick it up on myspace...let me know if anyone is having issues viewing i will try to get it up on youtube again. video link I still have a lot of work to do though. This Saturday I am going to open the rest of my piping under the car from stock to 3 inches all the way back…I will also have to buy a new pipe…so I’ll see what I like out there. Next are some bigger injectors, im going 460cc. Then my fuel pump will be replaced by the 255 walboro. These three should be done within the next week or so. Im also looking for a metal head gasket so I can turn up my boost a bit….right now its running at 5psi. I must also change the waste gate spring to a 10psi. im also going to replace the air\fuel meter with a wideband so I can finally hook up and toy with my safcII. As to how it feels??? Aaaawe man this thing feels great. My 4th gear on the highway feels like my 2nd gear…especially with the light weight flywheel. Terror sold his 5th gen 5sfte running a ct26 to a friend of mine. And I can say that the holset turbo really make my car a different animal. It really spools in hard around 35-4000….i’ll try to get some videos of that soon. So tell me….what do you guys think? |

definetly get bigger injectors, soon and spend some quality time at a dyno before driving it on the street.
it seems your turbo is an ebay special. keep an eye out for it. they are cheap copies of the real thing, and people have had them go bad after just a few miles. instead of upgrading to a 10psi spring, you should buy a cheap manual boost controller. this way youll be able to set them boost anywhere from 5psi and above. good luck and enjoy the boost. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

QUOTE Manny he is running 316cc injectors but he is upgrading to rx-7 we need a part # for those bad boys to make sure we get the correct ones. hte PT # for them is in my profile. with the 315CC injectors, your asking for trouble with that good sized turbo. your limited by fuel to roughly 195whp, and hopfully, with that turbo, you should be pushing that limit even with lower boost levels. make sure you keep the boost down till you get a fuel pump and the 460's in there. i would get to the dyno ASAP at least to get some verification of you A/F ratios, that gauge you have now is pretty much usless for tuning. the more i go over your post, your REALLY playing with fire with not having the SAFC installed, and the fuel pump. first thing i would do is get the walboro or supra pump, ASAP, and i would defiently NOT get the 10psi spring in there till you get the bigger injectors. getting the 10psi spring will set your lowest boost @ 10psi, not what you wanna be doing with no tuning and the 315s. to give you an idea, of how lean you will be, here is my first run on the dyno, after i turboed. this was @ low boost, around 8psi, creeping a bit to 9 or 9.5psi. dont mind the nose..lol that was with the 315s. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Okay so here's what I have scheduled for the end of the month. 460cc injectors...255 fuel pump, 3 inch exhaust all the way, wide band, turbo timer and boost controller. I need some suggestions for the turbo timer and boost controller...is there an all in one solution out there?

Don't worry so much about a turbo timer or a boost controller yet. Turbo timer just keeps your motor running after you shut off the car to keep oil circulating to a hot turbo after a hard drive.....nothing that sitting for a few minutes at idle couldn't do. And more boost isn't in your future unless you have the proper fuel supply to allow for it.
If you want to keep this investment running and not blow up your motor, I would HIGHLY reccomend installing the 440cc injectors, Walbro fuel pump, and at least an SAFC before you ever hit boost again. The reason we all reiterate the importance of this is not to scare you, but present a fact that you may likely ruin what you just spent alot of money on by not having the proper tuning. Keep an eye on that turbo as well, I just recently witnessed a GT28 Ebay replica take a crap on itself and throw a bearing.....hopefully this won't happen to yours and it'll stand up better. Good luck with everything. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
