Hey guys I need some help with my PS problem...heres how it started my car likes to make squeaking noise when I first start it up and I turn the wheel left to right it would squeak and the steering wheel would vibrate (but the noises stop when the car is warmed up except when you turn it all the way to the left or right to lock position then it would still make that noise) I though it was the PS belt (the noise was comming from the passenger side where the ps and alt was) so I had my bro tightin the belt at his work while he was coming home from work he said the PS was making noises so he went back to work and took a look at it he said it was foaming and pouring out of the PS resolver he refilled it and came home with it, it was fine then once it warmed up. Next day I started the car up and the same thing happened foam and PS fluid was leaking from the top pouring into my engine bay and when I turned the steering wheel it made a constant squealing when I'm turning the wheel so I bleeded the PS fluid and refilled it the car was warmed up by now took like 40-50 min then the PS went back to normal pumping just fine no foam or anything ?? Later on that day I started it up again and the same thing happened...I dunno what could be wrong maybe the PS pump is bad ?? or should I just replace the PS high pressure hose ?? I heard it was normal prob on celicas for the hose to go bad. I don't use AT fluid though I use PS fluid will it matter ?? My bro said my PS belt was still good so dunno, should I just replace all of those ?? But like I've said once it warmed up it would be fine and drivable but takes 40 -50 mins to warm up.

Or maybe the PS belt is too tight ?? My bro said he loosened it up when he went back to work but all this happened when my bro tightened the PS belt. And I know its not the weather it was colder a couple of days ago before my bro tightened the belt and it didn't foam or pour out of the resolver but it would still make that sqeaking noise. Any advice or info would help thanks.

No visible leaks when the engine is on only when it foams up and comes out of the resolver. I started it up today and try to follow the noise seems to be coming from behind the engine so maybe power steering gear ?? I dunno but I'm still trying to troubleshoot this problem outside in the snow... tongue.gif I have a garage but my dad's truck is in their so I have to troubleshoot this problem outside in the driveway. kindasad.gif If theirs foam though that means their is air getting into the PS system right ? So I'm sure their is a leak somewhere....?

Update: The noise sounds like its coming from the steering rack.

Hi there, I'm getting a similar problem - first thing, turn on engine and then the squeek of the steering wheel but after a few turns, it disappears after a few minutes. I checked the resevoir, its was at the correct level when hot, the guy at the Toyota service said it might be the belt, but I don't want it seen to just yet.

Did you find out what it was in the end that made things squeek? Quite an irritating and embarrasing sound too!

I never found out what the problem was (right now my car is dead because I have to replace a jumbo fuse on it) but I'm gonna try replacing the whole steering rack as it seems the noise is coming from their I did tighten my belt but it just got worst and thats why the noise moved on to the steering rack.... kindasad.gif
