Ok my first question is about the shifter cables needed for a 3sgte swap into a ST

i have always been told that i can't use the ST cables, and i have to use GT cables
well i have GT cables but the plastic coating is coming off and they are not in good shape

i was camparing the ST and GT cables but the only difference i can see is the bracket, so could i use my ST Cables

here are some pics side by side

When using the E153 transmission, you need to use ST205 shifter cables. GT cables are for the 5sfe and 3sge transmission. Also you'll need to get a rear engine bracket from an ST205 for that transmission.

If you use the GT cables on the 153 you'll have problems shifting into certain gears.

You need to take a picture of the rear of the transmission to clearly tell if it has LSD or not.

I'm using GT cables on the E153 and its possible with the use of spacers in certain areas but if you can get yoru hands on an ST205 set use those.

Best bet for checking if the transmission has LSD is to look in axles holes. A bar=OEM LSD, if you see something like a washer in the middle its aftermarket LSD. If you can see straight through with no problem its an open differential.

Yes it does. But theres no LSD in that transmission. And we dont have to determine if he has S54 or E153 wink.gif

well i wnt down to the dealership yesterday and found out that plastics are going to cost me about $160 for both

so i don't know if i'm going to get them or not, i may not have a choice if i want it to look good

also there is a bar you can see in the tranny so does that mean its lsd tranny?
