Check your coolent level. If it's low, it will slosh around and only hit the thermostat every now and then. When it does this, it's causes the idiol to go up and down. It goes up until enough fluid is pasted over the thermostat, then down because it knows it's hot enough, then up because the fluid stops passing over it. I hope I explained that right.
There are other reasons for it too. Mine is doing this a little. Goes from 1200-1800. I idol high most of the time. It only does this when it's really cold outside, so I've yet to figure it out. I don't care to much about it though, because it's so rare. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

Check your vacum lines, and check the little pump thing that holds your throttle open sometimes. You'll see it by the throttle cable. In a lot of cases, it's a worn out, or plugged vacum line. Those are a pain to find. You just start the motor and start pulling lines off and replacing them until the rpm doesn't change or goes down.

i had a look at all the vac hoses and they are all ok i cant find any leaks on them what so evey. i did a test on the IAC valve with a ohmmeter and it was a bit to high so i got a new one tested that befor putting it on and the reading where perfect. put it on but still no different still sitting at 2000 rpm im thinking off changing all of the IAC valve because i only change the the magnet thing. how do you just change the idel speed or cant you.
