Im starting my co-op placement in about 3 months time for a year. Its a paid co-op placement as a automotive technician. So im gonna be making around $15-$18 an hour so bringing in around $1300 a month..so im gonna start saving up for somethin to make some more power in my car. I like it the way it is, but..its just gettin kinda boring. Im either thinking of doing a 5SFTE or swappin in a 4th gen 3s. Im not sure of what i wanna do just yet. Im plannin on gettin this project started in the fall/end of the summer. What do you guys think i should do? I i did go 5SFTE i would go with a T3 or a T3/T4 turbo, custom made equal length manifold, 3" DP with matchin exhaust, bigger FMIC (stock 94 front bumper though), probably do a 4 peice hard I/C piping system, walboro pump...ur basic 5sfte setup...or i would just swap the 4th gen in, FMIC, etc..but no internals/turbo upgrade. What do you guys think i should do? I got a solid 5S in my car right now with like 50000km on it..so its still good. Ur opinion?

if your only looking for 230 then just go 5sfte

but if your like EVERYONE else, who says "i want xxx amount..." then 2 weeks later is like "its not enough" go either 4th gen 3s or 3rd gen 3s.

IMO if you have the money, go 3rd gen 3sgte. 2nd easiest electrical, and gives u area to expand in the future.

I like the 5sfte. If I turbo, it's what I'm doing. I've got a good motor that I know inside and out. All it needs is a little more top end. If I were to build, I would first hook up a nice engine management system. Then a good set of cams. Maybe some ITBs. I would check to see how the car worked at that point. If I needed more I would then boost it. If I boosted, I would have to have a LSD, otherwise I see it as irritating. That's just me, and I look at things from what would get me through the race track the fastest. You get a 200hp car that you take to the autoX track and race on the weekends is 10 times more fun than a 400hp stoplight car.

the migga has the right idea.
if your shooting for a modest goal, (under 250whp) a healthy 5sfte can do that.
if your looking for that and eventually more, go 3s.
its all about your ultimate end goal for the car.
if your just looking to make it a fun , sporty DD.. the way it should have been from the factory, then yea, the 5sfte may work well for you.
but if your looking for somthing you can take to the track, and lay down super quick times, or autocross, ect, i would say go 3s.
not that the 5s cant do it, but the 3sgte is just better suited to those types of goals.
i've been running my 5sfte for almost 2 years now, and ill tell ya, ive had no real complaints about it.
its tons of fun to drive, lots of low end grunt, and i built it myself. (with some help of course..lol)
ive driven a couple 3s swapped celicas, and they are just as fun, with more top end.
and room to grow.

Are you calling me or devilsden27 a Mexican who is acting like a Black ganster? I didn't know what migga ment, so I looked it up on the Urban Dictionary thing. I'm just curious.

3rd gen is easiest electrically

IMO 4th gen isnt that great, piro got a great deal on his engine so i supported him doing it, but if you pay normal price for a clip it will cost a lot more. just go with 3rd gen.

i think im gonna go with a 3rd gen. My friend told me he has a contact in japan that can get pretty much any front clip for under $2k. He ordered him self a ST205 front clip to put the 3s into his AW11. So im thinkin im gonna order a front clip and keep it at my buddies house in his garage *my new place doesnt have a garage*, and build the engine up a bit. Im thinkin probably just go with a set of cams, cam gears, and get my buddy to make me up an equal length manifold and a 3" DP.
