My piston rings are bad and i'm burning oil. I'm tired of my white car having a black rear end, where i have to wash it ever week to keep it looking desent. Does anyone know roughly how much a shop might charge to fix it?

Say if it was that the rings were bad, your looking at about $500-$700 depending on the mechanic you go to. frown.gif However, you may be able to save some money if you get the parts yourself. rolleyes.gif

Normally it's the cylinder bore and not the rings that wear.....
So IF you have ring leakdown, you're probably looking at a cylinder rehone at minimum, probably a rebore, not just replacing the rings.

But yes, valve seals also will cause oil burning, and are MUCH more common to go bad.
