Hey, sorry if this sounds kinda stupid, but I have a 94 Celica, 1.8L (7AFE) and I want to add a turbo to it and make it somewhat faster. I saw a Garrett Turbo Charger for sale on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Garrett-Tur...sspagenameZWDVW and I asked the seller if it would fit and if I would need anything else to install this. He said "Yes this turbo will work great. You will need the plumbing to complete the conversion." Now I dont know what that is (the plumbing) so I was wondering if anyone can inform me on what that is, and if he's right about that being all I need. If anything else is needed, what is it? Im not planning on doing this myself, I plan on taking it to a shop, but I want to get all the parts needed before I take it. Thanks in advance for any of you taking the time to help me out.

Thanks in advance for any of you taking the time to help me out. ok first befor any one ripps on you for not using the search botton , i will try to help you out ,now you want to research so you can get a idea of how much power you want , for a very simple and low boost set up (3-5psi) a good t3 garret super 60 trim is ideal for the turbo, also you will need a maifold be a log style or a honda made costom to fit the 7a, next you need the (pluming) or pipes ,this is the down pipe from the turbo to your exhaust ,this will need be costom made, the parts you will need for that is a flange to fit your turbo exhaust side , also if the tubo comes with a wastegate you will not need to get a flange for that ,but if you run a external wastegate you will need a flange for it and a dump pipe. next is a intercooler and the pipe for it from your turbo compressor to the intercooler to the intake of the motor, you will also need a blow off valve (bov) and the flange for it , you will need to find a oil feed line and a return line , i would recomend going with a least a 1/2in hose for the return so you dont blow your turbo seals, along with a oil reducer. that will hook up the turbo to the motor ,but you need more fuel for your motor because you are adding more air, for low boost a fuel management unit( fmu )will work but very good and a 255 fuel pump is needed as the stock one will not be big enough. you will need about 3 check valves for your map sensor, a boost gauge, and some vacuum tees and small odd and end stuff but that should let you boost to 5psi hope that helps and good luck This post has been edited by trd94: Feb 7, 2007 - 4:33 PM -------------------- |

You remove the 7afe.. put it into your trunk.. install a 3sgte.. and then you have a boosted 7afe

haha. gee where did you get that from..?!?
Starting with a good genuine Garrett turbo is a great start for a 7AFTE. Look into the oil restrictor fitting for the turbo as not to create alot of smoking and seal issues down the line....trd94 mentioned that, its pretty important to get the feed/return right to the turbo. The absolute key to life of the 7AFTE, or turboing any motor for that matter, is getting as close to perfect fueling and timing as possible. Good luck.
