OK, so I get my 21st Century insurance bill yesterday, and my premium increased from $604 six months ago to $1,854 for the next six months. I had an accident eight months ago and I expected my rates to go up a little but come on! Other than that I have a clean record with no tickets or anything. Do you guys think this is at all reasonable? because IMO there is no justification for this much of an increase. I will be calling these ######## a little later today, hopefully I can get the price to come down. If not, then I think it will be time to find another insurance company.

I'm 22 years old, but I was the same age six months ago.

As far as wanting to get rid of me, maybe they do, but I pay all my bills on time, and like I said, I have an otherwise clean record.

psh. if that's all you pay for insurance you shouldn't complain just be glad you don't live in toronto... my celica is under my dad's name and even he pays more than you with a perfect record...

on the other hand... i paid more than you as well when i had a 93 camry under my name with a perfect record (@ age 21)

and er.. in toronto... premiums can go up as much as 5x for a young driver that got into an accident

Ok guys, he is talking about LIABILITY insurance here, not FULL coverage. Yes, this ridiculously high for liability insurance. Considering you had one accident (hopefully not a big one) shouldn't have that big of an impact. Have them explain it to you and if they don't have a RATIONAL explaination, then dump them. You are gonna have to cancel your policy with them and just look for someone else he is able to give you a premium of 600-700 every six months. Even WITH FULL COVERAGE, remember guys, our cars are 10+ years old. The car has very little value to the money world. If you see a 94 6gc selling for $6000 and decide to get a personal loan from the bank, they will deny you right off the bat becuz the car is 10+ years older and they think that car will not serve any "money" to them if there were any reason to take it off your hands. Same as insurance companies who in which will probably take it anyways and donate it to someone who will sell it. In conclusion guys, your insurances shouldn't be that high. If it is, I suggest you guys go shop around for a better policy and premium.

I talked to my insurance a few hours ago, and they said that they were charging a sur charge because of my accident. By the way I have almost full coverage. Anyway, I asked if there was any way they could lower my premium, and they said there's nothing they could do, so I guess I'm gonna have to start shopping around for a new policy. Is there any particulary insurace company you guys recommend? I would appreciate any input. Thanks

Mine is only 1200 a year. and I'm 19. When we had Pemco it was like 1900/6mo and then we switched to Geiko and now it is 600/6mo.

At least I know I'm not the only one getting ripped. But you guys mostly have full coverage right? I'm getting uber screwed by mine. I'm at 154/mo under my parents policy for liability only. I send a check every month to my parents and they forward it on. I mean I have the bare minimum coverage that is allowed by state law. If something happens to my car I'm SOL. I just turned 22 on wednesday with a couple minor speeding tickets that I got when I was 16 and 17 and that's been it. The ONLY times there have been body damage on my car I was not even IN the damn thing when the incident occurred, ergo I was not at fault. I even checked around at various "bargain" website cheapo insurance companies and for my own policy I'd be over 230/mo for comparable coverage. God must hate me.

now I'm paying ~ 1800 a year for the ST which in NJ is nothing to be amaze for. BTW I have no tickets and no accidents.
