I'm not really sure but I have an ST205 cluster in my Celica ST and it shows the redline as 6,900 RPM. I don't know if that's correct, but here's a pic: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=30355

Stock, redline is about 6500. Runs out of puff about 6200.

Modified, I know of engines that run to 8500 rpm.

JDM ST205

Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000
Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.

its just how they made that gauge cluster. they normally start the redline a little bit before the point the motor can really rev to. you can see that this one from a turbo mr2 reads right at 7grand. i think the true redline (where the rev limiter is set at) is 7300 rpm.

Wouldn't know, I've never hit the limiter. Turbo runs out of shove before then.

i have been in the red range several times, up to around 7200-7300 rpm, and the limiter never came on. so i think lagos is right.

although, mr_e is also right: you can go up there but it doesn't make sense because the turbo is said not to be very effective above 6000. max power output (hp) is reached at 6000 rpm on a stock engine.

For a 2nd gen, yes.

A 3rd gen might be as well, but it also could be lower....
Remember, there are alot of differences in the 2 gens.....
