Mechanic just called me stating front struts dont fit. I already called KYB (even though I pouchased from Ebay) and they said I got correct part#s. My mechanic only took apart the fronts and said the bolt on the wheellock or something is totally a different shape then the strut. He said my front struts are sealed. My rears are rebuildables.

So, from ebay:
(2) 365092 front shocks, (2) 334125-334126 Rear STRUTS) KYB GR-2 shocks to fit 1994 to 1999 Toyota Celica all models excluding all trac 4WD. T

KYB confirmed these are correct part#s.

My mechanic said since my car is a convertible, sometimes they use different parts. Ad said fits all celicas 94-99 except Altrek.

Mine is a 95 Celica GT Convertible. I also bought Tein Springs already from ebay?

I dont think I can return them. What to do? Install springs without struts? Or just try to sell both of them back on ebay.

jdmwerks13 -KYBS
highperformanceoutlet - Teins Springs

Any advice would be great.

you have the correct KYBs and congrats, you have the sport suspension.

you would need the strut housings from a non-sport suspension celica to make them work, sorry guy.

the sport suspension has sealed struts and the normal suspension does not.

Im still confused.

What exactly parts do I need to make this work? Do I need more parts for the Rear supension too?
JcBass7- check your PM. I would definately be interested.

Also, I need these parts right away. If someone can overnight them to me or whatever - please pm me with info.

Is this something I can get from a junkyard myself? Thanks for all your help.

the rears are no problem, just the fronts are your problem.

You are replacing the rear strut housings & rear strut inserts and only the front inserts with the KYBs. So the KYBs will replace the rears completly and the fronts, well, you need non-sealed housings. I really wouldn't be concerned with what the housings look like, just as long as they are normal. I think jcbass7 (Jesse - good guy) is parting out an ST which only came with the normal suspension, so you'll be good to go with his housings.

How do I know which cars come with 'normal' suspension? I am guessing all ST models from 94-99 have the front strut housing I need.

You can call a dealership and tell them your VIN number over the phone. They can look it up for you instantly.

Definatly check the yards, you should be able to get them. the sports suspension is rare so even gt housings might be a safe bet but try the ST's first. Like i said if you need these i can get you pics sat and ship monday or even have my dad ship them tomorrow. See what you get at the yard tomorrow if no luck let me know.

jcbass7,
I will call some yards today. If I cant find them, Ill let you know.
Thanks.

**My mechanic just called. He said they cut the boot and noticed it was the insert kind and rebuildable. So after all that research, questions - the struts fit. I do not have the infamous sealed sports suspension.

I really appreciate all your help here. You guys really know your stuff!! I cant wait to get my car and check it out. Ill let you know how it turns out.

Also, this ebay user has been a pleasure to work with. I bought my Teins from him. Lowest price too. Responds to emails quick.

I really have no idea how it is on convertibles.. but on a coupe rear strut comes in 2 pieces. 1 that looks like a strut and a shock that goes inside. Shock can not drop in by itself because on the metal hexagonal plate being too big to drop in. I do not recall my mechanic doing anything special afterwares. he just assembled rest of strut and voila my car was dropped.

I don't know if anyone can help, but I have the Canadian GTS version, which has the sport suspension.

So after reading all of this and reading other threads, something like this one will fit my celica?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-KYB-GR-2-Gas-Shocks...1QQcmdZViewItem

334378 Front Right & 334379 Front Left
vs
365092 / Front Right & Left X 2 (insert replacements)
