Alright, I ran over to my work quick to borrow the compression tester from them to make sure its nothing internal along with the tensioner. IIRC I read that the 7afe motor should have somewhere around 120-125?

The compression on my 7afe is in the 170's...its not so much the number its really just them being even across...as long as they arent real low like 60...haha

Yeah that makes sense, we pulled all the spark plugs and they didnt have any oil or anything on them so that is a good sign. I guess the garage will take it from here. It sucks though, because I was hoping I could save a few bucks and do it myself.

Compression on my old oil burner was 210 across the block. Bet your glad it's not a zero clearance motor! Coulda had a lot of bent valves.

I talked with the garage today, and they said that it is the timing so they are going to go ahead and fix it. The only thing is, they said there is a possibility that it may have bent a valve. kindasad.gif

So it was the belt tensioner and the timing was off. No bent valves, thankfully. But I got it back from the shop today (suprised that the garage works on Saturdays!) but anyway, with the towing bill included it came out to $407.55 which sucks...but I have my car back. smile.gif

As you can see, the bearings are toasted.

7afe's usually wont bend valves, non interference motor.
