Ok, since I'm totally ignorant to electrical issues and installing things such as head units, I figured I'd ask. What all would I need to do if I wanted to install something in my car? Say I want a double-din (as I do), what all would I need? Do I need an amp for that or can I just plug it up? New speakers? Plug-in-play? I guess all I really assume is that I wouldn't need an amp until I get subs because of the extra power needed. Or am I wrong? Thanks for the help!

As long as your double din has speaker outs (pretty much all do) you should just be able to grab a harness adapater that adapts the Toyota harness to whatever make of head unit you get and it will run your speakers

As your in the UK now - Halfords will sell you an adapter but go armed with the knowledge of what you want as their staff sometimes aren't the best wink.gif

Good to know. There's an alright-sized one in Knaresborough about 5 mins away from my house.

Opps did not see you where oversea's....you should update that in your profile tongue.gif

SInce your in the USA there is a real simple way too do this....Im not sure which brand you have but this is what I would if your unsure about install. Ok find out whihc brand your headunit is ...then simply go to Circiut city. There they sell what are called smart harness's. One end will plug into the OEM toyota harness. Tell the gentalmen/girl you r have a "X" headunit. They sell adapters for them too. So its simply just plug one side into OEM side other into headunit. There is no cuting/striping/ clamping envouled. Then simply just slide it all back in a POOF your done. Its real simple and I can walk you through it if you need help. ( Did car install for 4 years) All in all that is the easist thing , should only take about 20 min. worth of work.

Thanks for the info guys, but actually, I'm not in Maryland anymore. I moved to the UK about 2 months ago. I'm definitely gonna get it done when I've got the bills for it.

Cheers,
