well i bought a new optima red top and i went to intstall it today. i was kind of in a hurry b/c i had to go out and i stupidly installed the battery backwards.
After realizing i was a complete idiot, i changed the battery connections. problem is now my car will not turn over. im almost positive its electrical b/c certain things do not work (windows, console, a/c, tails, alarm). i checked the fuses and they dont look blown.
any help is appreciated.

you probably want to try your amp fuse. those were probably blown since you put it on backward. happens to a friend before.

that would cause you to kill your car.

if you are lucky it's only some fuses that are blown...check every fuse and relay and make sure they are good. I don't mean to scare you but you could burn out some major electrical systems from doing that.

actually yes I do biggrin.gif

here is a power flowchart from the battery. Most likely you blew the fuses/relays it goes to.

ok, so from this chart i believe the problem is coming from the alternator. b/c the items that branch off from the alternator (power, abs, door, tailights, actual starting of car) are not working. however, my hazards, horn and headlights work.

then the big 100A alternator fuse might be blown. Check that first, then the alternator. I think you have to unbolt that fuse from the bottom to replace it.

ok so i had some time to look at the car today. heres what i found so far...

blown fuses;

100A- ALT (what i figured blew)
20A- RADIO # 1
15A- EFI

im hoping that only these fuses are what went but i need to check the entire electrical system to make sure nothing else happened. so far so good though
