car still doesn't make any power after 5500 even with the turbo? I would think that it be way faster to shift at redline with the turbo because you stay in boost longer.

heres one tonight, 87gas cuz im gonna be travelling, 2 adults + subs and crazy wheel spin on a ****ty launch, plus its about 20-30 degree warmer.
i have another one with a granny launch, but still a low 8 run, in the car he timed a 7.9 but i think its a bit off from the video.

I'd like to know what the 0-60 time is for a 5S-FTE.

-Matt

ive never done a 0-60, but i found some vids of 40-100 runs.
heres a little 5sfe VS 5sfte vid i just threw together quick.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7YI1b_L-Mk

hehe I can't wait for that biggrin.gif but wouldn't your 40-100 time be less if you shifted a little higher. you were shifting at like 5K rpms.

sure..in both vids.
i wasnt trying to run it up to red line, the car really dont make any more power after 5500 anyway.

so ur tell me at 5500 rpms celica's in general like a gt doesnt produce any more power? Do u have any sites or proof that that correct? just wanting to know....

just look at any 5sfe dyno sheet.
max power is produced right about 5500 or so rpm.

there it is, in black and white.
thats a stock 98 5sfe, with just over 52K on it,
and the same engine + turbo

funny. the dyno kinda shows the power very slowly go down after 5500 but when you're actually driving it feels like it hits you like a ton of bricks!

Because it doesn't have the torque production to support it.

The same reason my 406 small block chevy falls on its face below 2500RPM, no torque. Get it into the 4K range and let it go and there is no stop untill you let off or the tires blow. Much above 6K and you are again screwed.

But redlining these cars is more for the "go fast" sound than anything. The Torque produced above 3K pulls better than the fall off of over 5500.
