I believe the 3S-GTE will out perform a turbo'd Beams motor any day... especially a 3rd gen 3S-GTE...

er, not quite - check this out smile.gif

This is from the Toyota Altezza (not lexus) TOMS 280T. It is the 3SGE BEAMS engine turboed. The 280 in the name stands for 280ps (about 277 hp).

It seems TOMS, TRD and TTE all took altezzas and produced small numbers of limited editions. The TTE version is superchanged and the TRD version is Turbocharged.

Reports from those lucky enough to own or have driven the TOMS 280T say the car is very quick with a lot of potential. Along with the turbo, TOMS also made modifications to the suspension, handling, weight, added a subtle body kit etc.

Mmmm, Turboed RWD 3S BEAMS, to my ears the only thing sweeter is 2JZ-GTE biggrin.gif

So this engine is a good swap choice without the hassle of the turbo stuff.... How much they cost? and where to get one? Were they ever released in the US?
