I have been thinking about a LS1/LS2 S2000 for a bit. I have been very frustrated at the way these cars retain their value. So, I have started thinking about a late model Rx7. In my research, I came across a thread which contains some very nice fabrication and is presented very well with pictures and explanations. I thought some of you fellow enthusiasts would enjoy:

LS1 FD

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

dang... thats a lot of fabrication involved. looks like you have to make your own custom sub frame. not a cheap project.

Since the LS swaps have been attracting many people.. Heres an example of a cheap car with the LS1.. or it was with a LS1.. not it has been replaced with the LS6

Ill link the thread when I find it.

A very different combination. LS1 Corvette - Body + Civic Hatch Body = CIVETTE

Everything from the Corvette was used minus the body, A Hatch was used as a body. Very unique and he has spend 3000 On the whole project.

my oh my.

As some of you know, I use to own an RX-7 FC and upon purchse of the 7, I planned to do a LS1 swap. But I had a healthly rotary that I planned to run till it blew it up. Well of couse...I feel in love with the rotary. Sure, it was a big pain in the rear and did empty my wallet. But I went from my 6GC to the FC and was blown away by the 'sports car feel.'

Even now, I'm slowly working on building a SCCA/ NASA rotary motor. But since I got back on this site, you guys have me thinking of going for a replic GT4 ST205 project. So I owe everyone a big "Damn You!" for making me want to take up another project I can't afford. And I owe everyone a big "Thanks!!!" for making me want to take up another project I can't afford.

Anyone have the winning lotto numbers? smile.gif

Oh BTW. The FC/FD with an LSx swap is easy. You only need the following: (From memory, I may of forgetten somethings)

-LS1/T56 tranny/ LS1 wiring harness n ecu/ LS1 Camaro acessies (pwr str, a/c, abs, ect)

-Custom driveshaft, usually a modded C4 vette shaft works.

-FC Turbo II rear end (strongest rear end ever built by mazda)

-Custom exh and intake, along with bigger radiator.

-Battery relocation to a storage bin helps for engine bay room and weight distribution

-Walbro 255 fuel pump, SS lines and aftermarket FPR is a good idea as well

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, I'm pretty tired.

End of story, yes it's a killer swap, but I'm just weird and like my rx7's to have triangles. That's what makes the 7 the 7.
