You are dang right this wont be a celica replacement! Have you seen one in person? They look like little clown cars with smooth edges.

HEY! I own a 2007 Yaris sedan and it is great at what it does. great mpg and great cornering and turning. I can hit turns at 60 mph that other cars can't touch past 40.
I will post some pics later of my car. I forgot to tell the original poster that is the Canadian spec model. Our hatch's come only with two doors. This post has been edited by unknown_Epiphany: Jul 6, 2007 - 9:45 AM |

I'm sure they are great at what they do, but even as a family car they are just too small for my liking. Believe it or not, I've seen so many parts for the Yaris, a bit more than our Celicas, but that may be just b/c it's new and they're trying to bring it to the "scene." They're huge in England.
How does your sister act when she drives? I'd say it's a great 'little sister' car! Especially if she's just starting to drive and whatnot, great on safety! What model would she get, the Liftback, Sedan, or S Sedan? Check it out: Yaris! Why the hell put them there? When I'm driving, i look straight out, when i wanna see how fast im going, i just glance down...i dont wanna look to the side of the road......where im not headed. I said no....its a great car for what it is (affordable, grocery getter/commuter vehical)...but im not terribly impressed with the styling (which i believe is the focal point of this poll, rather then the actual niche that this car fills) -------------------- Kawi Love |

I think the yaris is the predecessor of the echo. Her current choices are between the honda fit, toyota yaris, scion xa. I really hate how the fit looks, and i dont want to deal with all the theft honda cars deal with. The Xa is small 4 door and is a close competitor to the yaris. It will be the test drives that make the difference between the two cars. Anywho back on topic. I really like the way the yaris looks. I read a review that compared the yaris with a pug, and from that moment on it looked better in my eyes. |

Ok, They put the gauges in the center because they sell the car internationally. Trust me I am a former big GM guy and the gauges took like a day to get used to. Its actually alot more intuitive because you can watch the road and just glance down. Honestly just get used to how slow they go thats all. If she drives slow go Yaris or Fit ( EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW) or if she wants a bit of sport with great gas mileage go with the new scion. It has the same engine as the Yaris RS which for that car size is pretty damn peppy to drive.

i wouldn't buy one... but i think it's a smart move to have created the Yaris.. i mean, people are now looking for fuel efficient cars due to rising gas prices, cars that have enough space to seat fullsize adults in the back seat and has a decent overall design (not too fugly). plus, it looks like these small hatchback cars are getting more and more popular among the younger generation (people in there 20s and 30s)... just think of Vibe, Caliber, Golf, Fit just to name a few.
on a side note, i find the Yaris commercials to be fairly entertaining... -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Its a great car...been driving around with it for the last 6 months (not mine though, my gf's). Engine is pretty strong...good acceleration, and the middle gauges isnt that of a problem got used it to in like 1 hr...very good mpg too.
Perosnally I wouldnt buy it, not because i dont like it...its just not my taste but for a girl (guys keep in mind that its for a girl) I think together, they'll make a great couple... Ohh and I think you might wanna get the sedan version, the 3doors is just too tiny to get in and out...our celicas are bigger but I had to squeeze myself everytime i got out from the backseats, imagine a yaris. Anyway hope this help... -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

But really for her, you'd want safety then her choice in whether or not it's cute! The yaris hatch is sweet, except for the center gauge console. I've already seen a couple that were mildly modified and they looked awesome. Test drove one awhile back, its a pretty fun car to drive.

She is a tiny person, so its consider roomy for her. The whole point is to get a small quality car, that can be parked easily. And crash test show, they are not death traps everyone imagines them use to be. With side curtain air bags, the car has around 4 to 5 star rating.
I've read some car review, and the yaris is the quickest from 0-60 compared to the other cars in it class. (fit vs yaris vs aero) The 105 hp engine and 2200 pound body makes it faster then the celica ST. Just image how much fun it would be turbo-charge or even better 3sgte power! muahahhahah!.... wait! must refrain from moding...! |
