Alright, I've heard some responses with the shifter and it sounds like theres hope, although it still sounds like it needs work. But my new question is with the steering wheel, I am looking at getting a momo jet steering wheel, but I've noticed that my cruise control looks like it's attached to the steering wheel. I guess this isn't really a surprise, but I want to get the new one and still have cruise control, I take plenty of long trips and my cruise is a great tool for me.

Is there a way that I can get the new steering wheel and keep my C.C.?

You could relocate the switch. But other than that I don't think there's much you can do.

I would look for another CC steering wheel at a junk yard and take the switch panel from that. Then make something to mount that onto your new steering wheel. this way, you dont ruin your origonal one. Something to practice on....

Or crack open the switch after ur old wheel is off and remove the board and wiring. Then just fabricate something to act like the new switch.

why just not use "old" cruise control switch with "new" st wheel? You will keep spiral (module) so only issue should be how mount that switch... see this topic, maybe should help...

Okay, I admit, I know very little about customization, I think I could do the change myself with directions and all, but I couldnt do a custom job where I relocate the switch. If anything, like was said, I guess I could hope to take out the board and maybe a little of the frame and somehow mount it in between the new wheel and hub....is that possible?!

ugh...why must the celica have stuff built in that makes customization hard! first the shifter with o/d and now this....

well, it doesnt seem possible, so the question is "would you get a new steering wheel, and sacrifice CC?"

but the thing is, the current one is covered in duct tape to cover up the airbag deployment.

its possible, just get an old switch case, and get some extra wire and relocate it somewhere, put it in your console box or something, do something creative with it, it wont be that hard to do...

Here's a youtube video of a mr2 with an aftermarket steering wheel with the cruise control at the stock location? The only thing keeping me from getting an aftermarket steering wheel is because I love my cruise control. I use it a lot since I do a lot of highway driving.

Well. I rather thread revive than start a new one. Lol. If anyone can find a way around the cruise control thingy. To leave it at the stock location. I will get an aftermarket steering wheel. That's the only thing holding me back.

To add on to my above post. Anyone know the owner of this MR2? He has is cruise control along with his aftermarket steering wheel. So it should be doable. Anyone done it here on 6gc yet?

Here's the youtube video:

All you have to do is take it apart, figure out how it works, and rewire it to push buttons, since the stock stalk is really just 4 momentary push buttons.

I guess this means no one has done it yet....I'm no good with wires but I'll probably attempt it and take lots of pics when I decide to buy an aftermarket steering wheel.
